Batzorig Vaanchig is a favorite of mine! Now you definitely need to hear The HU!

Batzorig’s daughter: _singing normally_ Batzorig Vaanchig: *HÔÒÒÓŒÂÁÀÆĀÅÃÂÀÃÂÆØÉË* Edit: I can explain these sounds and even perform some of them myself, but they’re all still 100% effort type things. Batzorig makes it look easy, and his overtone projection is INSANE.

I lived in Beijing with my Inner Mongolian GF for several years and she took me to Mong. throat singing and orchestral concert, it was very cool.

That little girl is having a wonderful time. It’s amazing to hear the sounds we can produce. Thanks for expanding our cultural experiences Harri. 🌺✌️

Thanks as always for playing this Harri. I can't remember when I first came across Mongolian throat singing but I'm fascinated by the sounds that they achieve. I was even more drawn to it when I discovered that one of the best known academics studying it, Carolanne Pegg was not only one of the members of Mr Fox (who were a great Folk band in the 1970s but was also at school with my sister. I'm amazed at how "western" the verse of the song sounds as Maral sings it but also at the thought that this might even be one of the songs that Genghis Khan knew. I've tried to find a translation of the song but failed. If anyone else knows the poem then please post it.

I have loved both Tuvan and Mongolian throat singing for years now, I searched out and found quite a number of CD's for both.

I also would like to suggest the Hu, Wolf Totem, is my favorite song by them.

Throat singing exists in other cultures as well including the Tuva region on the Mongolian/Russian border and the Inuit culture of Canada/Alaska/Greenland. Inuit throat singing was banned by Christian missionaries 120 years ago because they thought it sounded satanic. Just goes to show you how ignorant they were. Throat singing is a beautiful form of folk music and we all know music breaks across cultural barriers and brings us together. The things they think are useless I can’t understand….. 🎶 🎵

Yup and it was a miracle that the Inuit throat singing is still alive and it’s a shame that beautiful forms of art from other cultures from around the world couldn’t survive because invaders banned them because it offended them

I'm Christian and it makes me sick to my stomach to even be remotely associated with people who are so ridiculously ignorant and hateful, they drag all Christians down with them.

Throat singing originated from Central Asia and spread throughout different parts of the world by way of migration.

OK Harri ... Now it is IMPERRATIVE that you check out the Mongolian metal band, The Hu! They blend traditional Mongolian music, including throat singing, with metal. It's amazing! The most popular songs to start with are "Wolf Totem", "Yuve Yuve Yu", and "The Great Chinggis Khan". They even do a cover of Metallica's "Sad But True" that's pretty amazing with Mongolian lyrics.

Harri you did a reactions to a song a few months ago by Home Free - A Man of Constant Sorrow. The intro and exit to that song was a vocal rendition of a mouth harp by Adam Chance using a Mongolian throat technique. This was nice seeing father and daughter enjoying a song together and with a unique sound.

Batzorig does Sygyt throat singing (a type of whistling) so effortlessly, I think he's the best at it. I've heard others do it, but not like him.

Now you've done it. Fell into yet another rabbit hole. And that means the Mongolian band "The Hu," and their stunning song "Wolf Totem" (the first of many)!

I like the sitcom Frasier. They mention going to a Mongolian throat singing concert. I thought it was a joke.

Mongolsan throat singing song sounds like it would fit into Good Mirning Starshinr from Hair Instead of "Good morning Star shine to our early morning singing song " They could sing Good morning Welcome to our Mongolian throat singing song instead" lol Great and touching video Harri

What's the big deal about this? That's the sound I make 2 hours after eating tacos.

He is singing two different notes simultaneously. That's the uniqueness of throat singing. If you can't hear it, then that's just your incompetence showing.
