Utterly fantastic - amazing sound and crisp picture quality. Wonderful! I’d love a version where John talks us through what he’s doing but in the meantime it’s neat for this longtime Kiwi warbird nerd to “fly” with him.

Was lucky to have a flight in a Spit at Biggin Hill. If the bank balance ever allows it again...

What is the unit with the empty cannon connector and what appears to be a selection lever on top? Some sort of early auto pilot or? J

Wonderful sound and video. One question: What does that lever on the joystick do?
@garyb84863 жыл бұрын
I reckon it might be undercarriage brakes. I think Spitfires used compressed air to activate the brakes and you can he the air release every time the pilot lets them off.
@RDarrylB3 жыл бұрын
@@garyb8486 I was thinking it might be brakes, but was curious in that there was a single lever. I am used to light aircraft having individual toe or heel brakes. I considered it might be a tailwheel brake to help keep it straight, but had never heard of one.
@warbirdresto3 жыл бұрын
Yes its brakes. The rudder bar that carries the pedals is connected to a valve that sends the pressure to each wheel proportional to the amount of pedal movement. When the pedals are even both brakes get the same pressure. Full right pedal only pressure to the right wheel etc.

@@warbirdresto Thank you very much! I didn’t know that, but that makes sense. An interesting system,coordinating foot and hand movement. I think that I quite actually like that arrangement!
