I started fasenra in January and I was just hospitalized for my asthma this past Friday. I saw a major difference in daily life but once I got a flu like virus it went straight into my chest and I needed to be hospitalized. I’m praying I find a way to control my lifelong asthma. I’ll continue with my fasenra.

Hi. My company is running a research study to explore patients’ experiences with eosinophilic asthma and asthma treatments. We are seeking patients to participate in a confidential one-on-one phone interview to share their experiences with eosinophilic asthma. The outputs of this research study will help to understand what treatment outcomes are most relevant to patients in order to inform potential new studies for asthma and also to improve future treatments for asthma. In return for your voluntary participation in the interview, your time and effort will be compensated with $185. Let me know if you would be interested to take a part of this study.

This vid has good info. Finally, asthma is becoming better understood. I have had severe asthma for 27 years (first got it when I was 23.. but had allergic symptoms as a child). I had a blood test done back in 1994 and my eosinophil count was 900. Along with asthma, I have had severe sinusitis and otitis media. My ailments were/are treated with corticosteroids and bronchodilators. Thankfully, in the late 1990s, Montelukast (a leukotriene inhibitor) came out, which helped my asthma and sinusitis symptoms for a while. But by the early 2000s, I was in need of sinus surgeries. The first two surgeries did not help, but the third surgery, by which large sinus polyps were removed, improved my sinus breathing a great deal. However, I still had to stay on my asthma and sinus medications. Fast forward to 2012, it was time for another sinus surgery, as I was not breathing well through my nose again. Then, strangely, my sinus symptoms subsided somewhat, and my asthma went into FULL gear. I have been on 20 mg of Prednisone daily (some days more), and Albuterol inhalations almost every 2-3 hours, for the last 5 years! When I read about these recent studies on severe, high eosinophil asthma, I just wanted to break down and cry. I always wondered why my asthma was so much more severe than other people who have controllable asthma. Here it is 2019, my body is tired from this illness. The side effects of the medications have taken their toll... and I am the happiest person around because some new biological medications for high eosinophilic asthma have hit the market!! In my lifetime! I feel so confident that the new medication will work. I got my blood count again: 700 eosinophil (still obnoxiously high)! I just got my first injection of benralizumab (Fasenra) three weeks ago. I feel a little better. I am taking a little less of my regular medicine. I caught a cold right before I got the injection, so I don't think I'm seeing the results as much as I could've without the cold. My next injection is in one week. I'll reply to my post and let you know how I progress through this : )

After suffering from extremely severe asthma for the last 3 years, i was beginning to give up, I no longer could enjoy life. My pulmonologist started me on Fasenra last summer and i feel like i never even had asthma. This drug is absolutely amazing!

Very, very interesting video. I didn't know how much the Fasenra treatment cost but it did work very well for me after 11 years of suffering of asthma, rhinitis and sinusitis and tried all kind of inhalers, had two procedures, etc.., etc. Last two years I functioned with 25 mg/day of prednisone. I have now six months breathing without wheezing and without coughing and all free of steroids. From these 11 years I learn that is very important to be seing by good physicians with good knowledge like Dr. Ken Landow.

Great video! There is not much information on the exact effect of this drug. I have been a long time 375mg, bi-weekly Xolair user (2007). I have both extremely high IgE (920 IU/mL, which is technically over the prescribing charts) and high Eosinophils. We are considering weaning off or lowering the Xolair frequency while adding Fasenra. My question is how the two treatments would work together or inhibit each other? Xolair binds with IgE, Fasenra binds with Eosinophils. There is a relationship between the two. Would Fasenra effectively remove the IgE component as well? Unfortunately there are no studies to include how long Xolair remains in your system or long term effects. I have received considerable systemic benefits from Xolair but have not removed the severe asthma component we are hoping Fasenra will be able to help. Thank you for your time!

I have the same question. I have allergic asthma and eosinophilic asthma. I’m currently only being treated with Flovent, fasenra, and rescue inhalers as needed. I was going to meet with my pulmonologist for a follow-up as I was just released from the hospital today for asthma complications and I wanted to see if I should be receiving allergy shots as well. Somethings got to give. I’m 32 and I’ve been hospitalized for asthma continuously. I hope you find your answers! Take care!

Hi Jay. I got off the Xolair 6 months ago and started Fasenra. Unbelievable what it has done for me. No more steroids, no more z-packs, no more coughing up mucus, not blowing my nose, i use to get nasal polyps but no more. Hope it is working for you.

Hey Jay i have the same issues as you high igg and high eosinophils. I am going to start treatment with fasenra soon. But aas also thinking i would benefit from both xolair and fasenra. But of course one at a time will see how the fasenra goes first before adding more stuff into my body. Wanted to ask you if you could give an update on how your asthma has been and your thoughts on fasenra and xoliar? Thanks!

@@chrissantoro4968 I didn't get a benefit from Fasenra, we never really weaned fully off of Xolair... Until... This past March I started Dupixent. We did 3 overlapping doses to wean off of Xolair. I don't want to say it has been game changing, but it has severely decreased supplemental asthma treatment. I do not have some of the benefits I had with Xolair, which included a better systemic response to allergen antagonizers. But my IGE is 0! My lung function does seem better, with fewer lapses to pneumonia but I do still have severe asthma. Unfortunately this also means I'm no longer a candidate to go back on Xolair. I was on Xolair for nearly 13 years.

@@jhawk1045 Thanks Jay! I appreciate the reply. I have never tried a biologic so i am excited to try one. Both my ige and eosinophils are elevated. Im trying to decide betweeen dupixent and xolair. I feel like i could go either way. IM also a type 1 diabetic so i have auoimmune problems which makes me think dupixent might good for all around inflammation. Really cant decide feel like i could benefit from both. Can i ask you why you cant get back on xolair after dupixent?

@@aprilstarr7219 I have just been diagnosed with eosinophilic asthma. My IGE was very high too. I am allergic to aspirin, eggs, pecan, dust, dog, pollen, citrus fruit, sesame seeds, and ACV. I am also lactose intolerant. My doctor recommended Fasenra. Currently waiting for insurance approval because I understand it is very expensive. I am not sure about the treatment. I would welcome comments from friends who have used Fasenra and give me their feedback. I want to make sure that I fully evaluate and make sure that it is the right treatment or just another drug that pharmaceutical company wants to make money. The side effects of Fasenra are very serious and that is causing some apprehension.
