Swandiva hey girl, normally you get your fabric from a company that is not the cut/sew location. To answer your question, yes you would put the company's name in that section that you are sourcing your fabric from.

Thank you for all your interesting and informative videos! Could you ask Kathleen her thoughts on the current political climate and how it could impact fashion manufacturing? Is she doing something to prepare for potential turmoil/ changes in tariffs etc?

Sourcing/Cost for materials question- am I expected to know how much materials are needed for each garment when I present my tech pack to the manufacturer? Ex. “This much yarn is needed to make a L of this garment”. I don’t know how to determine that, hence me using the manufacturer. So how would I determine that without having to make each garment myself and figure it out? Who do I go to to help me figure that out so that I can determine the cost per garment size? Would I need to have my materials for the particular garment present for someone to determine how much of it is needed? -Thanks!

Hi Zoe, I was wondering do manufactures make patterns/samples from just a tech pack or do you need to send them the patterns of the garment you want them to make for you ? thank you
@zoehongteaches6 жыл бұрын
All production facilities offer different services. Some do full service sampling, some only do production runs, etc etc.

Hi thanks for the video, I was a bit confused about contrast, I presume it's a second fabric in a contrasting colour is that right?
@zoehongteaches7 жыл бұрын
+Ellen Reynolds it's the second fabric in the same garment, like if you have a wool jacket with leather sleeves, the leather would be the contrast, regardless of colors.

I know this video was a while ago but for the sheets do I need to leave the columns blank if say I don't have a lining or anything. or do I delete the row if it doesn't apply
@zoehongteaches7 жыл бұрын
I put a dash or "n/a" in the space so that people know that I didn't accidentally leave it blank.

What does Season, Category and Description mean on the top of the page???
@zoehongteaches5 жыл бұрын
Season is spring, summer, etc. Category depends on how the company categorizes their garments. Pants, tops, dresses. Or bigger companies will get really specific: boys knit tops, mens woven tops, etc. Description is a basic description of the garment.

What is contrast?
@zoehongteaches3 жыл бұрын
If you have a blue blouse with a white collar, the blue fabric is your self fabric, you main fabric. The white fabric is your contrast fabric. It's a fabric that's used on the outside of the garment but is not the one used the most. You can have more than 1 contrast fabric on a garment.

I work for a lingerie company and we basically don't do half of these things lol. It's underwear, so much of this is either unnecessary or extremely simplified! It all depends on what you are creating :)

I know everyone's tech pack is different but mine is so much more detailed that Im concerned now its too much. I have like 4 pages of callouts for front, back, internal (front and back). I have a page for seams and stitches, a BOM, POM, TRIM diagram, Labels, packaging, and colorway (which I have no clue where to start with Pantone colors and how it relates to my fabric choice **sigh**). My design is kinda complicated because things need to line up and connect plus measurements and placements need to be exact for functional reasons but still its pretty simple looking. Anyone reading this, if you know someone experienced who does tech pack consulting -- look over tech packs for a fee, please let me know. Zoe are you interested? Thanks.
@zoehongteaches6 жыл бұрын
Some garments require more information. The important thing is to make sure you have no contradicting information. I don't know anyone who's looking at tech packs right now.
