NOTE ON HOW I USE BOOKS: I filmed the books because I wanted to signal to you my research is grounded mainly in respected and published books. I hope they serve like citations in an essay. I left captions in the shot so you could pause and read them if you wish. Book info is in the description box. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT ME TO CONTINUE THIS SERIES! xo

Please continue this series, but could you give some more clarification on how we should be using this information? While this is definitely a useful foundation for a general knowledge base, would you say that it's important to keep researching and learning on our own from this point using these main points as key take-aways from the period?

I'm not even a fashion student but I've always always been really curious about the drastic change in fashion during this period and you just made it click for me it all makes so much sense! I never drew the connection between fashion and the wars going on but now it makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for answering a lifelong question. Hope you keep doing more of these!

I am a Fashion History Geek so....PLEASE CONTINUE this, it is particularly useful for my Fashion Marketing education, because you're citiing houses, people and movements, not just silhouettes! I know it's not the point, but I'd love it if you could do some content on the earlier periods too, especially those that keep getting cited as being trends, like Victorian is at the moment

Maybe after I finish the 20th century, if there's a lot of interest. I'll probably make a poll...

Yes! Please continue, because there are people out there who don't know or get confused by the movements or time periods of historical accuracy; including, contemporary to "modern" decades besides the 60's and 70's. Since I also buy clothing on esty, (for example) you be surprised how Neyon Colores wasn't just or throughout the 80's. It was also in the early 90's still part of the Swim to Resort Wear. And yes, there were changes, etc.

I'm not a fashion designer nor a student, I'm simply getting aquainted with the fashion world beacuse in the last year I've deciced to learn sewing, just as a pastime and because of a hint of nostalgia of my grandma, who was a seamstress. However, even if I speak as a total ignorant on the matter of fashion, I want to thank you so very much for your work on this channel. With this Fashion History Series I'm learning to really appreciate how our cultural heritage influences our lifestyle and, ultimately, our wardrobe. It is very, very much interesting and I'm looking forward to new lessons. Again, thank you for your work and the passion you put in doing it!

Greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!! One side note ... Trench coats were born from the invention of the gabardine fabric (waterproof weave hence breathable). Up to 1914 the world had seen only Aquascutum rubberised coats with ventilation eyelets on the armholes or A/H gussets. Keep it up!!! We are all learning such a great deal!

Very informative. In our senior years, my husband and I bought a 100 yr old house, furnished with a 1920 feel. We are having fun with it. I will have a sewing room and am fascinated with the styles of the times. Thank you for such a wonderful overview. Looking forward to seeing your next one. I am so happy to see you young "sewers" (as they call us now) showing an interest in this area of fashion. You are inspiring.

Though my english is very poor, you speak so clear that I can understand roughly the whole, which is wonderful, I’ve always wanted to learn fashion but I couldn’t make it without any path to reach it. I have no money and time passes, my fashion dream had gone. In my country fashion-related books are very expensive! Yay fashion history! When I went to FIDM (1997-2000) my fashion history class stopped at the 1950's, because the teacher said nothing in her lifetime could be considered history yet. So I'll be interested to learn more about the second half of the 20th century!

What an interesting way to define history. My US history teacher in high school said you needed 50 years of separation to really understand cause and effect of events. I was thinking of stopping of 2000, since I don't think anything less than 20 years old can be considered vintage fashion.
