Hello. This is Adam Person speaking. If you are receiving this message, I am here to inform you that among your viewers, I also enjoy and support the making of this content. Shall it be known that such talent was certainly not wasted, as it certainly sparked a joy within me that creates an intense need to acquire more of this content. However, this does not mean that you should rush any of your future projects, as perfection will never take too much time, but when it takes too little time, the product is not as appealing as those would wish or expected. I have turned such a simple comment that would’ve said, “wow, great job sir/ma’am, you’ve outdone yourself in this field,” as I am clarifying my sincerity and support towards you to the point where I have typed out an essay thanking you for the work that you have manufactured for the satisfaction of your viewers. Overall, thank you for putting out su- okay, I have skimmed through the video, and i will admit, this is actually is nicely done. However, I’m still going to provide an essay on something no one will probably understand. If a certain topic, maybe even the entire thing, stumps you, I will respond the best I can. “Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła!” (Poland is not yet lost!) A gun of the revolution, a weapon for the free nations. The UKM-2000 (Uniwersalny Karabin Maszynowy/Universal Machine Gun) is an automatic general purpose belt-fed machine gun made by the pierogis of Poland by a company named Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów, or Tarnów Mechanical Works, that is “inspired” by the Russian PKM, a Russian machine gun with all of the same traits. Where the similarities end is the bullet, or rather the belts, the Russian PKM fires the 7.62x54mmR round, and UKM fires 7.62x51mm NATO. The UKM also has a disintegrating belt compared to the Russian’s non-disintegrating metal belt. I almost forgot to mention, did you know that unlike most western designs, the PKM and UKM feed from the right and eject shells to the left, meanwhile guns like the MG42/MG3 and M240B feed from the left and spit shells to the right? The UKM has a choice between a polymer or classic wooden stock, which is very reminiscent to the RPK stock, (for those of you who don’t know the RPK stock’s appearance, and upside-down AK stock stretched out) but with a huge hole in it. The gun was made as a response to Poland joining NATO and going along with their standards without a huge replacement. The gun was designed in the 2000s, and was adopted since then. •*The looks n’ stuff* The UKM, as mentioned before, appears very similar to the PKM. The UKM is a gas operated general purpose machine gun that fires 7.62x51mm NATO, and some variants can come in with a bipod, three picatinny rails surrounding the sides and bottom of the handguard, or both. The UKM 2000 has the ability to mount an optic on the top receiver, basically where the iron sight is, and works almost like every other machine gun, where the top receiver opens like a flap, you put the belt in a pretty specific spot, and then you fire. However, unlike the west’s machine guns, the UKM and PKM feed from the right and eject to the left, while the guns like the MG42/MG3, MG4, M60, M240B, etc., do both actions vice versa. The UKM has a. disintegrating link, which in my opinion is a waste of paper that I could be using, but the PKM has a non-disintegrating link that gets stuck on everything. You can decide if you want to save the environment, or spend five minutes trying to get your link out of a nail that it somehow got stuck in. The UKM has a carry handle above the handguard in case you’re an instagram influencer and want to look badass carrying the gun one hand, and something else on the other, maybe even nothing. •*PKM and UKM History* Let’s start with the PKM, and work our way from there. When the USSR was taking back it’s land during WWII, the Soviets had found blueprints of the MG42, which gave them a lot of power considering the MG42 was the closest thing to a hand-held laser beam during those times. During 1955, Soviets had requested that they made company’s have both a 7.62mm machine gun, while also having an MG that shot rifle rounds for smaller battalions. Trials were called. Like every other gun that was every made. In 1958, two arms manufacturers G.I. Nikitin and Yuri Sokolov. This design was effectively the final one that was accepted, up until some time after the 1960’s would Mikhail Kalashnikov decided to join the trials. The Izhevsk design would prove to be reliable, and easier to manufacture like all of Mikhail’s weaponry. The gun would soon be widely adapted, and used in all sorts of wars where the USSR was somehow involved. Poland was breaking free of the Soviet grasp, like almost every other country after hearing that the US was involved. In the 18th of September of 1993, the last of the Soviets had retreated, those that were left swallowed by the poles. So was their equipment. Poland would join NATO in 1999, and would soon have to conform to the West’s traditions, including an equipment standardization, certainly not excluding an ammo standardization. Poland, while not exactly wise on money, tries anyways, and considers that instead of wasting funds adopting entirely new weapons, they simply rechamber their guns like the Israelis and the Galil’s. The reason for this was being so that Poland didn’t have to go through the process of making a new machine gun or having to buy from foreign companies. Issue being is when Poland basically said, “Well, it fires the same caliber, so let’s shoot normal 7.62x51mm out of a 7.62x54mm.” This didn’t work, since the bolt would not go all the way back due to the lower pressure of the NATO cartridge. This caused cycling issues, and turned out that the PKM would have to go through some more modifications. In case you didn’t know, for a gas operated weapon like the PKM to fire, guns use the fired round’s gases to push back a hidden piston in the part under the barrel, or if it was a normal AK, above the barrel, and looks like a tube that goes from the hand guard, curves and connects into the barrel. After Zakłady Mechaniczne- a former Train repair company, now in the defense industry- had found a way to fix the issue, a new issue was found. Apparently, due to the new mechanisms the prototype was back heavy, losing the perfect balance the gun had. Oh, and Poland rejected the initial proposal. After the company remade the gun to have picatinny rail systems on the handguard and adding a scope for customization and tacticool feels, the prototype was a success, and would be dubbed the UKM-2000, being made in the year 2000. *Final paragraph that releases the polish in me despite being almost 0% European* A gun for the defensive alliances, made by the revolution. If the FAL is the right arm of the free world, let this gun be the right hand of the independent nation that has struggled for it’s land over and over, and being effectively reincarnated to fight against the authoritarians of the fascist and the communist. Do not surrender to anyone, let them know that if you’re going to oppose you, it will not be easy. And if you call yourself to arms in order to destroy totalitarian ideologies, lay your gloves around the pistol grip, put your finger on the trigger, and fire at the invaders.
