From the music, editing, camera angles it's always felt like we were outside looking in relative to her earlier videos where she was performing for the person behind the cam. It doesn't feel as intimate.I've enjoyed the tone switch and her videos since then, as i'd outgrown the "WHATS UP GUYS!! TODAY WE'RE DOING X" youtuber type. She's not singing and dancing for the audience anymore, she's just letting us see what she does and that's disconcerting to people, most especially her older fans. Not to mention, those comparing her extravagant life to thier's. Which is bound to be upsetting.

It's so interesting how people are finding this video dystopian, creepy, Hunger Games-esque, etc. I am so inspired by Emma's dedication to her career and I think it's incredible that it brought her to this place in life where she's able to have and appreciate the luxurious things she enjoys. I also think it's beautiful the way this video is edited, to give us a bit of that dystopian and stylized feeling. Between the choice of camera quality, shots of rain drizzling slowly, long moments of blank expression, and locals about their daily routines, it all feels very intentional. Still breaking out of artistic shots Emma gives us a glimpse of her actual experiences, voice, and personality. I think people are taking the stylized aspects of this video too seriously and I think it's unfortunate that Emma gets backlash at times for how she's begun to take a more artistic approach in her videos. She talked about how she has gotten to a point where she no longer needs to rely on KZbin for income, which gives her the freedom to create what she wants. I understand how people might miss her bubbly and chaotic vlogs, but she still has those lovely bright qualities as a human and is choosing to portray herself online in a different and more creative way because she can. I really enjoy this kind of content and I think it's incredible to be able to follow along on Emma's journey, it's brought her to a place where she seems to feel really free and happy. Love you Emma

I don’t want to be mean or turn a joke into something serious, but the fact that they got turned away on their favourite restaurant and their hotel when they were not in full glam just goes to show how classist their sphere is, like just in how much of a privileged, classist and capitalist environment they are moving through. I just think it’s so ironic and horrifying.

It is not at all classist. There is a specific dress-code you must respect when going to fancy high-end restaurants.

@@mungselectedworksI think by: “ … eccentric and somewhat mundane …” the post refers to Emma’s ability to capture the everydayness of life; the moments that weave together to make a life we all experience. Emma is grounded despite her phenomenal success. Day to day life is littered with mundanity and Emma captures that.
