I never was a Gabrielle fan but in comparison to 22 it looks much better quality, solid , true luxury bag made out of good leather, while 22 looks like a cheaply made bag you could buy for $100. Would people really buy it if it was not Chanel?

Amy I just went to store and they had several mini Gabrielle’s on the shelves. I saw a green, pink, black and I think one in a block color. I asked my SA if it was discontinued but she didn’t seem to know. I picked up the Chanel 22 knowing others have had issues😬 I’m using it right away to see if I get wear on it. I did mention my concern to my SA and she said bring it back if I have issues. It’s one of those bags I liked more when I saw it in person and tried it on. Keep us posted Amy🥰

Hi Amy, thanks for your reviews! I have the small Gabrielle bag in 2-tone beige leather and black base. And you rightly called out that I have to be careful of colour transfer cos the beige is a light colour after all. So that’s a big CON for me as I have a lot of dark colored clothings. Otherwise l love the look book of the bag which I find that it’s really one of its kind! And there hasn’t been a bag more unique. Another CON is that it’s not for someone who doesn’t take care of their bags cos I’ve seen really smashed and badly used/scratched Gabrielle’s - basically it’s a casual looking bag that requires quite a lot of care. So I don’t recommend it for people who don’t expect to care for this bag. For you, it’s perfect! 🙂

I love my Gabrielle so much. I own the large size and the samorga organizer basically saves its structure as the bag still looks pristine (barely sagging at all!) Sad that they will discontinue it. Hope I could get it in tweed version 😊

Hello. I don't dislike the design of the 22, but for me, it costs too much for what it is. Of course, that is true for all Chanel bags though! Thank you for the video! I hope things work out for you.

I’ve seen a lot of ladies sport the 22 bag & I have to say, it looks really nice on. If one sees it hanging in the store where it’s not stuff, it’s underwhelming. However once it’s on, it’s very chic and a great every day bag. Now the price point is another thing. There’s so many bags I like and want so gotta be choosy. It seems there’s a lot of noise made on social media of issues, big and small. Sometimes I wonder if it’s just for viewership because after all is said and done, they still buy from these luxury houses. If it’s so bad, why be a repeat customer? I say it’s for viewership because it’s where one makes money.

my friend in malaysia has the blk beige small gabrielle and after few yrs of storage the straps are breaking apart .. some say it’s due to humidity but one strap was in good condition but the other strap broke apart

Amy, i got my Chanel Small hobo Gabrielle in 2018. The most carefree bag in my collection so functional and carefree to use. I love mine plus its a Karl Lagerfeld legacy design

Really enjoyed this updated review on the Gabrielle, it's truly such a beautiful bag. I remember watching reviews from you and Kat when the bag first came out and they convinced me to get the bag and I still love mine so much. I think you need to wear the bag to understand the hype! It's so unique and so I really hope they don't discontinue it! Thanks for being classy about the 22. I agree with your comments 100% and I hope they will be able to fix the leather issues. Hello! When I was in Vegas on a little vacation I asked to sales associates at two different Chanel boutique if the Gabrielle has been discontinued and they both emphatically said no.

Oh dear… back to a mini bag and a Longchamp shopper it is then, that’s usually how I roll 😆. Some of the colours of the 22 are just beautiful, it’s a shame it’s a rubbish design. I can imagine people on the production line rolling their eyes as they made it, knowing they were wasting their time. Those chains through leather were never going to work without the protection of gromits to run through. Anyway, happy to know the Gabrielle works for you. Yours look to be in really good condition and the burgundy is gorgeous.

i got my new medium black gabrielle in 2021 after watching your wear and tear video. it is one of the most practical chanel bag in my collection, very sad to note that it is going to be discontinued... Never regret in getting it, still!! but yes... it is way less popular in asia area (well in hong kong at least) comparing with other classic line~ really hope that gabrielle could come back from time to time even it might not counted as classic line :(

💯 on the Gabrielle. I'm in love with mine. I have the tweed version which I adore. It pills because it is fabric and I'm not exactly gentle with it however, it still holds up very well. No thread has come undone or anything. I wasn't a fan of this bag when it was first launched but it gradually grew on me and I went back to your review after a couple years and finally understood your love for it. Everything you said is on point. It's like a piece of jewelry on your body. Just so perfect; easy to wear and use.

Maybe because I could be that lucky one, who has no issues with my 22 so far, checking it every time I wear it after all that youtube buzz, but I think, it is kind of obvious that when metal rubs leather it will show, however it is not that fast at all, that it will break the bag. Everyone, including me, is just a bit crazy about resale value, and so scared it will not hold it, because even inside of leather tube because of metal-leather friction there is some wear….

Sorry your 22 has an issue. Looks like it’s rubbing against the chain/ which can happen. I love the style of the 22 it’s more laid back. The Gabrielle is gorgeous but I haven’t been able to say Yes. Idk why.

I much prefer the aesthetic of the gabrielle over the 22 bag, but the gabrielle look & feel really heavy with all the extra chains. I honestly don't understand why it's such a common occurrence now that the SA's act if they're doing us a favor or us being a PITA for bringing in defective bags, make us feel like crap for dealing with the issue despite spending thousands of dollars on them? They need to do better, LV and Hermes would never treat their customers like that.

Awww so sorry to hear your bag has issues and had to send it to Chanel to check. Super Dacob had a great discussion with Romina. Check the stiching - appears to be inconsistent (: The color also may affect durability.

Hi Amy. I bought a white 22 bag last Wednesday. I unboxed it Saturday and noticed blue stains on the 4 corners. When I tried to return it to the store the manager didn’t accept it with that condition. And he said that the bag was only on display for 2 hrs before I bought it. I told him it might be a return from a customer but he’s insisting that bag is from fall collection. When I checked the code it reads PXNTCP5C. Is he correct that this code is for fall collection? Please help. Thanks

I have 19s (gold pearl flashes pink) Gabrielle backpack. I love the Small backpacks, they fit as much as a single flap jumbo but don’t look as large with daintier chains. I planned on adding a black or black/white at some point, need to hurry up then.

I purchased the 22 in black/SHW because I really love the style unlike most people. However, I returned it without ever using it because of all the horror stories. Cannot take any risk with such expensive purchases! When I asked my SA in NYC, he mentioned no such issue was reported to his store.

I enjoy the Gabrielle but it's not a classic per se so it's really what you want. It is currently still in production for the small black one so not quite discontinued yet.

Great review! Gabrielle is a very versatile and classy bag and C22 is so gorgeous. Hopefully, Chanel can resolve the wear and tear issues of C22.

Since its lambskin, it is less durable than calfskin for sure. Plus it is a bigger bag so to use it with care is more difficult since surface area is much bigger compare to smaller bags. I try to stay away from lambskin handbags from chanel after having experience with corner scuff from the vanity with handle after only one use and I was already using it with caution. Have no idea how the corner leather got scuffed at all.

Hi Cai. My friend recently send hers to replace the strap as it peeled badly. The SA told her it's a common issue for Gabby. The material is not real leather according to the SA. I m shock.
