🌟 Welcome to the iconic world of Jackie Kennedy's New York City Apartment! 🏙️ Join us on a virtual tour to explore the timeless elegance and refined taste that defined the former First Lady's living space.
🛋️ Nestled in the heart of NYC, Jackie's apartment perfectly blends sophistication and charm. From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted by a sense of grace and style that reflects her legendary taste in design.
🌷 Wander through the meticulously decorated rooms, adorned with classic furniture and subtle touches that showcase Jackie's keen eye for detail. The living room invites you to relax in an atmosphere of understated luxury, while the dining area exudes an air of intimate gatherings and elegant dinner parties.
📚 Discover the personal touches that make this apartment uniquely Jackie's, from family photographs to cherished mementos that tell the story of a remarkable life. The library, with its shelves of books and cozy reading nooks, provides a glimpse into the private moments of a woman known for her intelligence and poise.
📚 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, or Jackie O as she was fondly nicknamed, transcended the role of First Lady. Born Jacqueline Lee Bouvier, she possessed an innate grace and elegance that captivated the public eye. Her life woven with personal triumphs and devastating tragedies, she left an enduring mark on American history.
📚 Jackie Kennedy's journey began in the affluent spheres of New York society. With a refined upbringing, she developed a passion for the arts, literature, and horseback riding. Marrying John F. Kennedy in 1953, she became a young and stylish First Lady at the dawn of a new era. Her impeccable fashion sense, with its pearls and pillbox hats, became a cultural touchstone.
📚 Beyond fashion, Jackie Kennedy actively cultivated the White House's cultural significance. She embarked on a mission to restore its historical grandeur, transforming it into a museum echoing America's rich past. Her televised tour, a first of its kind, brought the White House into living rooms across the nation, fostering a connection with the American people.
📚 However, tragedy struck in 1963 with the assassination of President Kennedy. Jackie Kennedy's composure and dignity in the face of national grief became an enduring image. She fiercely guarded her children's privacy while continuing to advocate for the arts and historic preservation.
📚 Jackie Kennedy later married Aristotle Onassis, a Greek shipping magnate. Following his death, she embarked on a successful career as a book editor, nurturing the talents of upcoming writers. Jackie Kennedy Onassis passed away in 1994, leaving behind a legacy of elegance, resilience, and a profound cultural impact.

I remorember meeting Jackie as we waited for the light to turn green on 5th Ave and Central Park. I was a college art student leaving the Metropolitan Museum, - which was near her apartment. .I looked to my right and saw this beautiful woman with her iconic large sunglasses next to me. My friend nudged me - and said 'that's Jackie'. She turned and smiled. I idolized Jackie even though my family was Republican. The '60's was such a wonderful era of hope, culture, and beauty - despite the turmoil of Vietnam and the assassinations. We all thought we were on a path to a wonderful world. That was an era when Dems and Rep could talk to each other

@@michaelcole6062 Actually, not translatable. That 2 million might get one a nice one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan. I believe after her death in 1994 it was sold to David Koch for 9 million dollars, which was a lot then. Real-estate prices in NY have become ridiculous-- those horrible towers on 57th St. are mostly empty and represent 100 million plus apartments bought by people all over the world as a place to park money. Another consideration: if one buys an apartment for say, 2 million usd... the maintenance fee is astronomical. How do I know? read international real-estate listings. Cheers!

It was a lovely property but I think that the narrator had some things wrong. I saw no Picassos. Although the apartment was a fabulous piece of real estate, and I hope that Mrs. Kennedy Onassis and her children were very happy there, I think that it could have been “kept up” better. Some of the upholstery was worn to the point of being tattered. Also, especially in the dining room/library, the fabrics and carpets clashed. It’s hard to keep after a home but I do think that she “let it go” a bit too much. I do think that it was, and should have been, a comfortable family home for her and her children. However, I also think she should have kept after it a bit more so that it didn’t look so dated (and in some cases a little shabby).

Technically, she was Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. And she lived outside the US after the assassination of her brother in law Robert F. Kennedy, in various locations with Ari Onassis, after 1968, until his death in 1975. Whereas she received a settlement of about $26 million. Famously, a lover of French Provençal, speaking fluent French, and a degree in French literature, where she graduated from Georgetown University. She also lived in Paris and studied at the Sorbonne. And some of the photos in your video are not of her apartment building, nor the building on E 83rd and Park Ave. I remember when it was rumored she was dying, and people gathered outside her building. It was really sad passing it, when I walked to work during that period. She lead the fight to save Grand Central Station, and the preservation of the objects in the White House in 1962, which are now curated by the Smithsonian. I did like the photo in your video, from the balcony, where you can see the Egyptian addition to the Metropolitan Museum. After the assignation of her husband, she received a very small payment, from the United State government, which has since been amended for other First Ladies. After her marriage to Onassis, she permanently lost her secret service detail. Lastly, her former home in Georgetown, where she lived before buying the Park Avenue apartment in 1964, recently sold for $15 dollars. Bon Chance.

Truly amazing woman as was her late husband a truly amazing man, she was a trailblazer for women's fashion and she had it nailed and so elegant... as for the New York apartment well it just smacks of finesse and style and what an incredibly intriguing family.

So many wrong facts. That hall picture is not Jackie’s apartment. Mrs. Kennedy moved to Georgetown after the White House and lived in 2 houses before moving to NYC in 1964.

The Kennedys are a fascinating family to me. Although I don't buy into the whole Camelot narrative and how great things were for them, because we know things were not great on so many levels, they're still a very interesting sociological study on money, power, family, influence, affluence. They lived in a way that so many could never possibly dream of, but they also had so much tragedy that no one would trade even for all the privileges they had

Although the lady was not one of the most sympathetic women, I think this Appartement was quite elegant and comfortable. To me it is a look of how North Americans think north europeans live. Considering this was put together 40-50 years ago. It still stands up well today. That look is certainly better than the VIP‘s homes of today which all have a sterile hotel lobby look to them , a conveyer belt “luxury”, look which has to change every season. By the way was everything auctioned off after her death?

@@joannejacob1345 Why? We all feel very bad for the loss of JFK and many others but there is no way we could overlook she was a pushy gold digger and for all her pride what was she proud of? Jackie could be bought - marrying Onassis wasn't necessary. Jackie didn't even treat him with respect! She just wasn't a nice person...

I wasn't a great fan of the Kennedys, but Jackie was a good student of history and example of wise support of her husband's career. She wasn't an example of nouveau riche extravagance, she was modest, and she avoided grabbing headlines. I see a lot of envy and jealousy from people who want what she had.
