so I actually made a list and it helped me!☺️ it showed me the reality: I only wear comfy things in neutral light colors to look clean. I never wanted to be that girl that prefers comfortable clothing, because I want to be elegant and feminin. But I realized it just doesn’t fit my lifestyle right now and because of lighter colors and some comfy blouses, I can still have that feminin touch!🥰 (I hope you all write a list yourself and find your style!)

I love your videos about style! I actually took a look at my Instagram back when I was posting more often and was really happy with my pictures and what I was wearing in those. My clothing is a mix of classic all black outfits, girlie pink doll-ish looks, and bold red pieces. When I'm feeling the most comfy with myself, I''ll usually wear more pink or neutral colourrs. My style is girlie with an edge. I also look at who I follow more on KZbin and Instagram - it's either girlie or edgy girls, normally blondes, so I definitely relate the most to the blonde girl aesthetic.

Wow what a fab video. Such though out and detailed advice. Well done Josie. One of my tips is to go shopping with neutral make up and hair as you usually wear it. Also to take a picture everyday for a week to see what you mostly reach for. Or to have a “what was I thinking moment!”

Your recent content is amazing, Josie, it’s astonishing you haven’t got more followers. I’ve watched your channel right from the start and have seen you develop and mature as a KZbinr. As one of your more mature viewers, your advice still resonants with me. In my twenties and thirties I purchased clothes randomly and was surprised that I only wore jeans and a t shirt as nothing else in my wardrobe would go together. Over the years I have purchased less but better. I may spend more but seek out high quality garments that fit and flatter me which I can wear for years. The size of my wardrobe has shrunk but I’m wearing a greater proportion of it. I’ve curated the staples which form the backbone of my wardrobe and I know will work with more trend lead pieces. I only wish someone had told me your advice 20 years ago so that I hadn’t wasted so much time, effort and money!

Very educational. I fell in love with # 1: Carrie Bradshaw & # 2: Charlotte. Of course I was shopping with them in mind. Bad mistake, so not me. Unfortunately, I do not live in such a fashion-oriented city and I would stand out like a sore thumb and be noticed in not the most flattering way. Carrie's look would work for me but not in my casual ethnic city. Although, I adore Charlotte's prim & preppy look, the straight lines are not my most flattering. So, I then brought Stacey & Clinton (in mind only) and they threw away my whole wardrobe. So, even now when u go shopping I carry Stacey on one shoulder and Clinton on the other shoulder and listen to what they whisper in my ear. Occasionally, I notice something that I admire on someone else and I go shopping for it. I'm still a work in progress but my mistakes are fewer and further apart. A great video and great tips.

Lovely. I often buy two of something if I really know I will get a lot of wear out of it, especially shoes. Josie, you have been a big influence on me developing my personal style. I have definitely lightened up the items in my wardrobe. A few years ago I started an embargo on any new items being black. I definitely have a feminine emphasis on my look. I am also influenced by Jackie O, Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn. Simple, classic, chic. I am fine boned and slim. I find less is more with me.

I'd like to add, if you're like me, hourglass shaped and rather short, then a good rule of thumb is if a garment looks good on a mannequin (or model) or the hanger, it probably won't look good on your body type.

Josie, I just scrubbed my closets. Before I did, I asked myself these questions. I now have four large trash bags for charity. I found my color palate, my classics, and a few trend pieces. With the lifestyle I have, I need casual classic. Thanks again for all the great info and the detail to get me to that point. Great advice. Also if I click on a link it takes me to the UK site then I have to transfer to the US side do you get credit for that? If not that needs to be dealt with. I have worked in a corporate office or with clients and prospects for most of my life. Fortunately, that is my style. Blazers, skirts, slacks, blouses and tailored dresses. On weekends I like crew neck cashmere sweaters and trousers. I do wear dresses when I have a date night with my husband, but they are all tailored, except for the holidays where there is more velvet or the summer, where there is more breezy sundresses and shorts. I love the way you dress, but I can't pull it off, I am more comfortable in navy blue, black or white than any other colors, it is hard for me to pull off prints, I don't buy too many. I don't wear jeans too often unless they are black or white. When I do wear jeans, I always think I can do better with a navy or black trouser. Sometimes, I just think jeans look sloppy, like you aren't trying. I love the way the women in Europe dress, sometimes I find the American style of jeans, jeans, jeans or daisy dukes a bit much.

Your declutter video inspired me a lot. I actually managed to tidy up and clean my closet yesterday. I arranged everything by color. It turned out that there are only 10 colors that I always buy (in the last few years) and like to wear again and again. This already created a personal style. 5 years ago I didn't have that clear view. I didn't worry if an item suited me, the main thing was that I liked it. Now, I tried to clear out a few things, but I kept most of them because they are favorite pieces and in very good condition. (I buy more quality today than I used to.) For some pieces, I wonder why I bought it and never used it. Mostly it is the material, because you don't feel comfortable in it or the cut is uncomfortable. I found out something important: some colors only work in combination with others. Example: Beige makes me pale. But if I combine it with dark blue, it looks much better. So I can wear a sweater that has a pattern in these two colors. I combine light purple with cream. Then it flatters my complexion.

Thank you so much, Josie! This was incredibly helpful and will be useful as I get my wardrobe ready for spring/summer. Though don't take this the wrong way, but I've discovered from my "worst" list that I need to stop buying white things, lol! I was far less surprised that most of my loved things were pink. But another thing my list tells me is that I do spend money wisely, since the items of biggest value were ones that were on my favorites list or just missed it.

It has taken me many, many years before I found my style, and it has only been particularly the past 18 months where I have started to settle into what works for me. The questions I ask myself are: 1) Would my younger self be inspired (and reconsider the choice of garment in her hand for something more refined)? 2) Would my current self radiate confidence? 3) Would my future self be proud of my choice?

Was an amazing video as always ..I actually liked ur tip from the ted baker event last year where u mentioned to go visit different stores like selfridges, John Lewis etc and try their personal assistant service if I was very clueless as to what I want and what my style is....it kind of helps to see as to what they recommend and build the ideas in head from there.. For an absolute clueless person like me who is transitioning to their 30's and higher ranks in career I was stuck in a rut between 20 's clothing to dressing more appropriately for work etc...that tip was a saviour... I won't say I know exactly what my style is now but it has helped me evolve and understand my body and likes and dislikes...along with some of ur tips in the video it will definitely help...I'm at a more Confident and happy place now...I guess I will definitely try to incorporate these tips now that we in lockdown and have time to our hands 😘😘😘I couldn't thank you enough as I was at a stage of thing myself for being so clueless...and i can't recommend you enough to people who haven't subscribed..u are honestly an angel and really hardworking...
