Drifting is useless when it comes to taking corners at speed, it's purely for style. "Hacking" with a router strapped to the roof? no, just no. hacking police cars will absolutely do nothing to stop them from chasing you, hacking that truck will not work, period... because it's not turned on... random car half a mile down the road, whatever character: Maurwhatever dude?! thats like... better eyesight then a eagle. it's because of stupid shit like this the Fast and Furious movies is less realistic then Harry Potter.

CallMeKevin has a video of playing this game and literally covering his eyes to get across how on-rails it is. It scraped the walls but still kept going. The car got to the objective without being destroyed.... which is easy when there's only one path. Maybe less Grand Prix more Grand Theft Auto with an open world and dynamic car AI for situations where you just run wild in an open city with the on-rails sections restricted to street races.

Similarly they made a lot of reduction in features along game production, one of which even included removing 3rd person gameplay. And dont even get me started on the AI.
