FAST and SIMPLE Boho Beach Bag

Channel you inner Bohemian soul and make this chic and simple bag for your summer excursions today! You can make this fun bag in about 1.5 hours or less with just 2 yards of fabric. Beginners are always welcome! Just be sure to watch the entire video first so you understand the entire process.
This bag would also look great with a little more structure- adding interfacing, batting, heavier weight fabrics, etc. As always, I encourage you to experiment with sewing projects and make them your own! My version is very light weight and quick- perfect for folding up and putting away when not in use.
Materials needed- 1 yard of cotton fabric, at least 40'' width
30'' x 36'' cotton fabric for lining
two 2'' x WOF cotton fabric for draw stings
Sewing machine, scissors, thread
Ironing Board and Iron

I would normally box my corners first too, but for a big beach tote like this, that tacked-down corner tab makes a loop inside that you could attach things to... like you could attach a carabiner or clip to your keys and clip them there. You could put a hair elastic under the tab before you tack it down, that gives a ring to attach things to like sun block, sun glasses, etc. and to find your stuff you only need go to the corners because nothing is going to slide around.

I take some crochet thread or yarn and either tie a big knot or a button on one end. Fold the strap fabric in half. Put the button or knot outside of one short end. Sew up the short end and down the long side and half of the other short end. Pull the two pieces of fabric at the end where the knot-button is and stuff the knot-button in the little pouch you made. Pull the thread end and the button will pull the end through the tube. Snip the knot button off and take it out of the unfinished end. Sew the remaining hole closed and press.

The part of the seam you ripped open will, over time, become frayed by the action of pulling the drawstrings. How do you keep the fabric from fraying? Do you recommend fray check? How's the bag holding up after using it for a few years? Otherwise it's a great bag and I'm planning on making one.

You could have taken a longer string, put it through one hole take it all around and out the same hole. Then another string take it in through the other hole all around and out from the same hole. Tie the ends together and attach a tussel on each end. It would draw the strings much better.
