Setting the scene, it was the hottest day of 2022, at one of the hottest tracks, on two of the hottest bikes on the market. Fast Bikes Editor Bruce Wilson teams up with Michael Rutter to spin some laps and give their honest opinions on the BMW M 1000 RR fitted with Michelin’s Power Performance 24’s, and Honda’s FireBlade complete with the Michelin Power Performance Slick.

Them tires are not built for wet conditions, its just for the summer in hot weather smh, i stick with michelin power gp all weather tires,

These are non road legal tires bro. My power GP's basically disintegrated on track when started pushing them. Power GP is awesome road legal tire, but nowhere close as good as any dedicated track tire. In comparison, Power Cup 2, is also street legal, but much better track tire. Just did a trackday, pushed pretty close to my personal limit and particularly front tire was basically laughing at me, remained nice and smooth without any strange or excessive wear or "moments". Abrasive surface was punishing the rear tho, and had to ease off throttle in full lean to mitigate ripple wear. Front looks great while rear is toast. Switching to full slicks next, either power slick or power performance. Whatever is available in 180rear size. I run low to mid expert class and hold intermediate racer license. Could go into more detail, but there's no point imho.

Did he say when the tires get hotter they need to bring the pressures down? That doesn't make sense. I thought when the tires are getting too hot it is because they are flexing too much, so you need to bring the pressures up to reduce the flexing???

Yes hot air expands, i think maybe the way he said it could have been better. Just like how the air pressure in your tire gets lower in the winter. Youre not increasing the pressure your just having to add more because the same amount is taking up as much volume so you need more volume to bring the air back to the same pressure.

​@williamkenny6383 air doesn't get lower in the tire, only if there's a passage in the air valve or tire, which means there's a slow leak somewhere, when the passage is repaired or tire is changed the problem stops,
