Very good tutorial. I've been crocheting for many, many years. Self-taught from the days long before the internet. What an advantage new crocheters have today! I have to admit, even though I've been crocheting as long as I have, I am learning all kinds of new things from younger individuals. Love how creative everyone is. I struggled with this a bit because my old hands aren't what they used to be, but I finished, and it looks really great! Thank you!

Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I'm glad you were able to finish and enjoyed the tutorial. I agree that it's much easier to learn now. My mom taught me the basics when I was about 8 and I never really crocheted again until a few years ago. I started watching KZbin tutorials and learned quickly, so I wanted to make my own to help others. I'm 43 now and absolutely love crochet! ❤️

hello i have a question im using a very small yarn a yarn bee soft and sleek dk low pill yarn its probably a catergory one or two and im making a beanie for my husbands boss and i was wondering do you have any suggestions on how to make this with this yarn? i know i wont have the same amount of rows and count because its so small but by chance have you ever made a beanie with a yarn like this. i definently wanted to ask you because you are a professional your beanie looks so perfect in this video and i need his bosses to be perfect she helps him so much and shes so very nice and helpful and patient and we both wanted to show her that he appreciates her so i really want her to be blown away so to speak. if you can reply back with any helpful tips or advice on this i would really appreciate it thankyou.
@creationsmisfit3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching. That's so sweet of you to make that for her. I have made this before with a size 4 ply yarn and held two strands together and it worked up just the same as the pattern in the video. So I think with a dk weight you hold three strands together and it should be very similar. For the band, you want to fo between 19" and 21" for an average adult head. So that measurement may help you as you're making it too. Then just measure on your head as you go, if needed. But I would suggest three strands of the dk yarn and see how that works 🥰

Great video on this messy bun hat! You did fine as far as speed and clear instructions. I’m making one with Lion Brand Landscapes yarn using a size 6 crochet hook. I just adjusted the number of rounds to get the length I needed and the number of rows in the band for the size. Thank you for sharing this pattern! New subscriber!

I'd love to see elastic incorporated on the top. I've seen chunky ponytail beanies sold on Amazon with the elastic in them, but I want to make my own.
@creationsmisfit3 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, good idea. You'd make it from the top down most likely by starting with the elastic and crocheting around it and then going down. I will try to make one soon. Thank you!

Love this pattern...... how many chains would you suggest for child size or would it be easier going down a couple of hook sizes?
@creationsmisfit3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You could measure the chains around their head if the child is near you. Otherwise I'd say maybe between 30-35 depending on the age? I've made these for kids before, but I can't remember how many I started with. I made one into a hat for my 10 year old nephew and it seems like I did around 38-40 for him. Best if you can measure and try it on them as you go.😊

@@creationsmisfit I used size 4 variegated yarn and it looked so pretty but the texture was scratchy and thin, so I made another messy bun beanie, this time with size 6 (or is it weight? Not sure) alpaca yarn, which was a guess sometimes with where to put the hook - it was beyond fuzzy and squishy - and the result was a very soft, cute inviting hat. I hope the bus driver likes it on those cold dark mornings! Thanks so much for this tutorial! I hope your channel does well. I subbed! I'm currently working on leg warmers. I haven't explored your videos yet, but if you don't have leg warmer tutorials yet, that'd be my suggestion! 🙂👍
@creationsmisfit4 жыл бұрын
@@aroncace thank you so much for the sub and comment! I'm so glad this worked out for you. Yes, a size 5 or size 6 yarn is best for this particular pattern. I've also made it with size 4 yarn by holding two strands together and it turned out nice as well. I don't have a leg warmer pattern yet, but I will work on that in the new year. Thank you for the suggestion! 🥰

Great video and pattern! It was easy to follow 😊 My only suggestion would be to zoom in during the transitions from row to row. It was a little hard to see which stitch was being used sometimes. I love the beanie though ♥️ Thanks!

Love this pattern I followed it like you have shown but for some reason it turned out smaller then I wanted it to I even did 47 instead of 43 or 45
@creationsmisfit Жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm sorry to hear it turned out smaller! Every yarn is different, even if it's the same "size" like a 6 or 5. I try to measure the brim around the head before I connect it to make sure it's big enough depending on which yarn I use. I hope that will help if you decide to make another! ❤️

@creationsmisfit3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching. I don't have any made that I can measure at the moment, but for a child, I would say probably start decreasing after round 4. I hope that is helpful! 🥰

I’m trying to make this and my yarn is #4 weight yarn and I’m using a 5.5mm hook I made mine 22” inches which is about 106 rows. My question is at row 6 and mine isn’t nearly the size of yours so how many rows should I do ?before starting to decrease
@creationsmisfitАй бұрын
@samarneill6776 hi! I know you've done a lot already, but I would suggest using two strands of the size 4 yarn together. That would equal about the same size as the super bulky yarn that I used here. I do this often. But if you'd like to keep going with what you have, I would maybe do rows until almost the top of your forehead. You will have to do a few more decrease rounds than I did as well since you have more than double the amount of stitches. Maybe repeat rows 7 and 8 two or three times after you repeat row 6 to your size. I hope this is helpful! 💗
