Hi Ms Tiffany, wanted to know if these would look good using blanket yarn? I know it’s a thick yarn but I’m trying to do a unique style blanket for my niece and think she’d really appreciate this square. Or maybe 5 would work better?

For the newbies. Each row the stitch increases by four. You might find that bit of information helpful. By round 4 you should have 12 double crochets across. Round 5 you should have 16 and so on.

Your Mom would be so glad you are learning to do something she enjoyed during her life time. I have no daughters to leave all my sewing materials to so im sure my sons will take it all to goodwill or throw everything in the trash. It breaks my heart to even think of it anyway i wish your learning experience to be a happy one. Making things for others has given me so much pleasure and peace of mind❤

This is great. I'm an actual, certified granny, but I never learned how to do this (or actually any) Granny Square. I did somehow learn to crochet, though. In my advanced age, I'm now going to finally master the granny square! Your directions are so easy to understand and the camera is placed just perfectly so that it's easy to see what you're doing. I love the simplicity of this square and it is a great beginner square. If you want a more seamless close of the round you join with a half double crochet (hdc) to the beginning chain or stitch. I do a stacked single crochet (sc) instead of a chain. The hdc counts as a chain 2 and allows you to always start in the corner with a chain 2 (or stacked sc) and 1 double crochet (dc) then you finish the round with 2 dc joining with a hdc. Works the same if you only chain 1 in the corners. You just join with a sc to count as your chain 1 at the end.

As a beginner, I personally would say this is for advanced beginners cause I feel like I'll need to do some pausing & rewinding, as well as having some questions. I'm saving this for when I feel I might be ready. I've also not done anything in the round yet, so that's my biggest unknown. I'm fine with double crochet, I'm currently practicing those. Thanks!

Hi, just love it. I was just thinking how would it be to just continue the square, changing colors. Thank you so much, you are a great teacher.
