My trees (a big one in living room and small one in family room) are still up. I had planned to take them down this weekend but something came up. Tomorrow I have plans plus a haircut, Tuesday, friends coming over and going to lunch. Not to worried about it plus my husband loves to turn the lights on even though he doesn’t sit in the living room. I picked out china 50 years ago plus everyday dishes. I only got a few sets of china so I took them back and used the money to buy other things I needed. I found a few backgrounds I made with shaving cream and shimmer powders just sitting around so will get the few cover plates I have and make birthday and thinking of you cards. Thanks for the ideas.

This video is a GREAT idea. Before I moved house (interstate no less), I donated a box of offcuts and inked backgrounds to the local college art department because I enjoy making the backgrounds then get stuck as to how to use them. The college was grateful and the donation was facilitated by the fact that I had already donated enough books to the library that they bought new bookshelves and had new displays. But it seemed a bit weird to donate all that crafty paper. They said their art dept would love it though. And now I have more ideas.

I Love ❤️ cover plate dies and have several of the ones you used. I also have many backgrounds lying around waiting for me to "do" something with. Thank you for the inspiration. I think I will also try some of my 2D embossing folders for the background piece behind the large opening die cuts. The forest is my favorite of your cards.

Great ideas for cover plates and backgrounds. I think my favorite out of all is the birch tree. Put your warped papers under your glass mat. It’s flat and heavy and right there. I’ve also run my cards through my laminator or die machine to flatten them out. I’ve , in the past, have used my laminator to heat set glue on layers. You wouldn’t do it for embossed layers, obviously…I did that once…it didn’t end well.

Great tips! In this case running them through the die cutting machine with the cover plate flattens them almost completely 👌

Pretty cards Kelly. Thanks for the great ideas. I have so many background stamps and I’m never happy with the results. Putting something on top of them covers too much, but using a sentiment or two would do fine, with a few embellishments. I have China which I use about four times a year. Fortunately one of my daughters would like to have it, so it will be hers someday.

Right after Christmas/New Years, we left on a cross country trip and I didn't have time to put the decorations away before we left so I'm rather late getting them put away this year.

Beautiful cards, Kelly. My husband and son just finished taking down most of our Christmas decor. They left the tree up until I am recovered enough from surgery to help. I have a ton of Hallmark ornaments that I’ve collected over 30 years and they are afraid to mess them up. Well, that’s what they told me, but I think they were just tired. lol. So our tree will likely be up for another few weeks. Luckily there are no “decoration police” so it doesn’t matter. We all just do the best we can at the time.

I have also been collecting Hallmark Star Wars ornaments for over 30 years, and I pick up ornaments from all the places I travel to. I need 2 trees to display them all. Everything has to go back into those little boxes, after removing the batteries, and I my husband leaves it all to me. Well, I broke my arm just after Christmas, so my trees will be up for a few more weeks! I had plans to for other projects, which will also have to wait, and I love all these ideas for using up backgrounds, but getting dressed is too painful. so forget about lifting boxes! Fortunately all this rain we are getting makes staying at home very easy, and Costco delivers!

Quick and easy way to make several cards! The Honey Bee coverplates are great for adding to card stock I’ve water colored, shaving foam colored with food die, smooshed with stamp pad ink. Mind blown!

You’re talking about not having china! Well, I’m a third generation of china Brides, (53 years ago) and I have ended up with 6 sets of Real china. The kind you would register for when you got married . Not only the fine fancy china, I have4 sets of Christmas china! I have never used any of them and wish I could trade them for craft tools. Lol. Now it’s my time to hand them down to my daughter…. She has her own, how can I start a China Shop? Lol. Stay well everyone. ❤v❤❤❤

FYI collecting china is not a thing anymore. I held on to my husbands grandmother’s china and a set from a great aunt for years thinking I would give those to my daughters. They really don’t want them after all.
