Kevin, great job here! Thanks for the vlog! I have never heard of this company Ausom or their scooters. That price is comparable to the Hiboy Max pro on sale currently for $799. I have been saving to get 1 as I have heard some positive reviews. This review makes my decision even tougher! What worries me is the Allen Head Screws on the stem - my friend did a review on the Unagi & it had problems with wobble on stem. Uncertain if Ausom Leopard scooter have this issue? I personally don't recommend taking most scooters off road - if a scooter falls in the forest (lol). Should Honda get in on this this type of scooter action? not unless it was a game changer - with sturdy epic frame design & other.

Thanks a million for the kind words bud! Oh yeah... that's going to be a difficult one there as the Hiboy Max Pro brings a lot to the table and their name has been around the industry longer, which definitely adds something. I'd LOVE to get my hands on one and do a side by side comparison. However, for less than $100 more - I'd probably lean towards the Leopard as I like the wider handlebars, adjustable display, more dual sport'ish type of tire, a bit more on the wattage / ah side of things and a big thing for me is the adjustable bar height as once you go from sitting to standing - I couldn't stand for the bars to be at a fixed height. Which allen head screws on the stem were you talking about on the Ausom? I'll dive into a bit more and see if I think that might be a point of weakness down the road. lol yessir, taking them off road definitely opens up an entirely different door when it comes to a fall risk! I'm still surprised I haven't busted my butt yet and my only real close call was that section in the video where I tried to go from grass to concrete but didn't hit it at an angle and one more time when I wasn't recording. I thought it was a smart idea to come blasting into my gravel driveway from the road and being new to scooters with small wheels like this, I wasn't anticipating what came next but thankfully it's easy to just hop off and walk it out. Gotta agree with you there, if Honda didn't plan on bringing a game changer to the table - they shouldn't hop in this segment. It's going to be interesting to see what the future holds though as they've got some pretty cool electric toys in the works that'll be releasing over the next couple of years as they push more and more towards a "green" way of mobility. Thanks again for not only taking the time to watch but for jumping in the conversation too ;)

It's tempting, looks capable of keeping up with traffic which is the only reason I don't commute by bike. I could get moped plates for it in Colorado but I'd be worried about reliability long term. A class 3 ebike or 50cc scooter cost more up front but probably will last a lot longer. If a cheap 35mph escoot could be built to last, Honda would have done it. They limit the Motocompacto to 15mph probably because they know it will be reliable that way.
@HondaProKevin
@HondaProKevin 7 ай бұрын
Yessir, it's definitely one of those things where it's a difficult decision to go with something like this or a small ICE machine as you could go with a major manufacturer and have some guaranteed reliability behind it whereas these are a still an unknown when it comes to longevity. It'd be cool to see Honda dive into that segment but between the Motocompacto and the Dax E, Cub E, Zoomer E etc they're limiting to 15mph - it really limits what you can do with them. It's a shame you're capped at the 50cc mark as if you could go larger, the NAVi is one of the bets bang for the buck bikes out there. Here's to hoping they've got something in the works as they're really going to pushing out some new electric 2-wheel models over the next 18-24 months and I really hope some of them will fill in some holes that other manufacturers have been filling. I don't ever want out ICE toys to go anywhere but I'm excited to see what's coming in the near future! Really appreciate ya watching and hopping in the conversation too bud ;)

@@HondaProKevin all we need is a 35mph electric Ruckus with plates and people will go berserk. A 1,000W ebike can do 25mph uphill, so a 1500 or 2000W escoot should be close in performance to a 50cc.

Yo I recognize that downtown area haha. If you ever see a Pikachu helmet on a Grom clone, hit me up and lets ride. Been eyeing the Motocompacto, but 15mph is too slow, may pick up two of these things, seem fun as hell! Also, if you happen to want to do a review on a Grom clone (if you haven't already) let me know and we can meet up downtown.

Not a scooter fan but I do have to save this one visually looks a lot better then most due to a lot of others has stupid gimmicks and graphics like led rgb lights and tacky looks.
@HondaProKevin
@HondaProKevin 7 ай бұрын
lol I hear ya bud, some of them and the extra rgb lighting they're throwing at them to draw as much attention towards you as possible - is a HUGE turnoff for me. Yes, it might be a cool party trick for about 5 seconds but after that, it seems pointless but I guess one could argue that it'll help you be seen, to lessen the likelihood of being ran over but yeah... not for me, personally. However, to play devil's advocate... I'd wager that we're not exactly in the age demographic they're shooting for with those though lol! Really appreciate ya watching and hopping in the conversation bud, despite this being waaaay outside of the "norm" ;)

surprised it weighs 70 pounds , that’s what many regular e-bikes weigh

Oh yeah, I was surprised initially by the weights on a lot of these scooters as they're neck and neck with a lot regular e-bikes! On a positive note though, the weight is so low - you'd never know it weighs 70lbs while riding and it's not as awkward to pick up as some e-bikes to pick up and move around. Appreciate ya watching and hopping in the conversation too!

Where in the hell are the US reviews of the Honda Adv160 Scooter by US Motorcycle reviewers ? Does it suck that bad as only being marginally better than the old Adv 150 ? At MSRP of $4500 might as well get a good used Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 or wait and pay an extra $1500 or so for the new 2024 REH 452 ADV motorcycle. What’s the story on the Adv160 ??!!!
