From the comments, you can tell y'all don't know shit about politics and geography. Firstly the guy in the video is Indonesian due to what they're speaking and Islam not being a thing due to North Korea's views on religion. Secondly, yes the North Korean people can't afford this but he can because he is an immigrant worker, not some army general also he pays in USD or Chinese Yen which are both far more valuable than North Korean money which is why he can afford this. Also, you can hear other people in the back which means people from big cities such as Pyongyang are actually able to afford it. The reason the waitress serves fries in a formal manner is because in Asian Culture being polite and formal is very important and most people working for restaurants such as waitresses are hired as full-time workers rather than part-time so they do their work in a more committed manner.

I find these videos so interesting. I never really thought about life for people living in Pyongyang until I started watching these videos… now it’s a minor obsession for me. In a weird way, I was imagining people in Pyongyang to be very stern and unemotional. But you can see glimpses of people’s day to day lives here where they’re joking and laughing, playing, working, enjoying themselves and spending time with friends and family. I guess it’s obvious but it’s a side rarely seen by outsiders. I suspect even the few visitors to Pyongyang do not get to glimpse these scenes. From what I’ve heard, tourists aren’t allowed to really interact with the locals. It’s a shame because I think scenes like these really humanize the people of North Korea. As a Westerner, all I see and hear about North Korea is negative things. But this makes me go “oh yeah, there are actually people living here, too.” It’s funny that before watching this channel it wasn’t something I really thought about. Thank you for taking the time to upload these videos. They are really something! I hope that one day there will be peace and prosperity for all the people of North Korea. And maybe in time the rest of the world will be allowed to befriend the country and its people.

@@wolfiesworld9361 Maybe don't uncritically believe every horror story you hear about the country. Defectors are often encouraged and paid to embellish their stories and used essentially as propaganda tools by the South Korean government. In some cases this is obvious like Yeonmi Park, who constantly tells absurd lies and contradicts herself, while others tell more realistic accounts. That doesn't mean everything they say has to be wrong, but I'd be more sceptical about these stories coming out of North Korea, especially when they fit into this market for sensationalist stories about the crazy evil rogue state that is totally unlike every other nation.

I'm surprised they actually turned it into a real restaurant instead of just being a fast-food restaurant especially when they are just serving fast food (If you looked at the older photo of this restaurant when it opened in 2009, the interior and service are way different and more like classic mcdonald's interior)
@dodykusumanto83772 жыл бұрын
I believe they have more than one fast food restaurants. The one with more similiar with any fast food restaurants, and the luxurious one as this.

Interesting the use of the term "Soft Drink Restaurant" that really makes it sound rather odd by western standards. I think in the US we'd call that a "Soda Shack" (of course this looks more like a sit-down restaurant like a Denny's or a Big Boy). Interesting how they serve the sandwiches first than the fries next, usually both would come at once (fries being a side dish).
