North Korea is not a capitalist country, so the number of people who’ve actually done business there is quite small. Among them is Patrick Soh, who helped bring fast food to Pyongyang back in 2009, and Geoffrey See, who started Choson Exchange, a group that brings business professionals into North Korea to teach people there how to run businesses.

So basically the vice reporter's job was to get intel from some Singaporeans who has close ties with dealing with North Koreans to get relationship advice for Trump's meeting with Kim Jong-un?

Like I always tell ANY Americans for the last 31 years. It is the North Korean Regime that needs to step down. In this case the Fat Kid. And the People of the N.Korea are pressured to brainwash themselves idolizing the Fat Kid. Nothing wrong with the Food. It's the people who should have the opportunities for rudes of awakenings. Otherwise, this deceptive dictatorship will continue.

For those who were disappointed in the politicization of a burger place here is some info: -In November 2008, the three Singaporean partners began making trips to North Korea to set up their flagship store and train the local staff. One year and US$200,000 later, Samtaesong, or Three Big Stars, was born. -Located at the Kumsong Intersection in Pyongyang, it mainly serves burgers, which the North Korean government refers to as “minced beef with bread” to mask their American origins. Samtaesong also sells fried chicken, french fries, hotdogs, Belgian waffles and even draught beer. -Its cheapest burger starts at €1.20 (S$1.90), while the fried chicken is the most expensive item on the menu at €3 (S$4.70). -While the kitchen equipment, waffle mix and seasoning for the chicken were imported from Singapore, Samtaesong’s recipes are adapted to suit the locals’ tastebuds. The coleslaw has been substituted with kimchi (Korean pickled cabbage), and every burger comes with more vegetables as the government “hates the idea of junk food”, according to Mr Quek. -Samtaesong, being walking distance of several universities, foreign embassies and subway stations, became an immediate hit with both the locals and diplomats. The 24-hour fast-food restaurant has since expanded rapidly, with at least two new branches opened following the success of the first. Up to 300 burgers are reportedly sold daily at each of its outlets. The trio now owns six convenience kiosks, a cold room for food storage, and an entire food processing plant to cope with the business demands.Its popularity has also inspired the North Korean government to set up a few other restaurants selling Western cuisine, such as pasta and pizza. source (mustsharenews)

오골계 actually sometimes they do. I just watched a vice video about a son being sentenced to 99 years for giving his dad a single punch. The father had a very thick British accent. I understood most of what he said but that’s because I’ve watched loads of British media so my ears are now trained to understand. And even then I was still a bit lost on a few things he said. However, when I watched some of my first British films and shows, it sounded like they were speaking a completely different language even though they were speaking English. The average person at least in America doesn’t often hear other accents on a daily basis. so it could be difficult to understand someone speaking in a video outside the USA.

@001 002 I don't remember a ton of that now. If you're going to cite a fringe group like antifa then I'm going to cite the fringe white supremacists groups that March all. The. Time. And cause havoc. I'm also going to cite the front groups that had public lynchings of Obama puppets saying things like go back to Africa. I don't know where you were those years but yes, it was there. But thats not the point of this conversation. The comment you made was Trump won and people can't get over. Obama won and people couldn't get over it for 8 years and then you pull out a whataboutism and act as if just because some on the left do dumb shit that should suddenly ignore the same dumb shit done on the right. Stop falling into the left vs right trap. Obama had problems. Trump has problems. You're spitting out the same nonsense the conservative media wants you to.
@AndroidsDontDance

@001 002 And AGAIN, no one is doubting Trump won the presidency. You're again only saying what you've been told. Of course he won. Those are the left are going to complain when a republican is in office. Just like those are the right will complain and DID complain when a Democrat was on office. It has always happened and always will. The Dems complained about bush. The Republicans complained about Clinton. It's a cycle. Grow up. I don't care how you vote. I care that you're so agro about it. Learn how to have a discussion without projecting and looking for a fight.

Politics aside, this kinda reminds me when KFC/McDonald's introduced their business into China in the late 80s when China began to embrace "market economics" and opened up to the world...everyone said they were crazy,because they were quite expensive and drastically different from Chinese food back then comparing to the average salary.A lot of Chinese has the collective memory of their parents taking them to these two restaurants if they made good grades in exams or to celebrate their birthday(including me,until I finished elementary school). However,as the Chinese became Crazy Rich Asians and fast food is far from high-end for most people today,Yum!(parent company of KFC/Pizza Hut/Taco Bell) and McDonald's has almost monopolized the fast food industry in China and they are swimming in the money pool by now. NK has the similar potential like 80s China(although not that much population),so I think this guy stands a chance of making a fat stack out of North Korea.

No it's because he is speaking a different accent. Having lived in Singapore I understand everything he says perfectly but for example maybe some people who aren't fluent in English and are still learning would have trouble understanding. In Switzerland and Germany they put subtitles over eachothers' speech, nobody takes offence over that. But I do agree Biden is incomprehensible, I am amazed you're able to predict the future.

Wow, they put in subtitles whenever the Singaporeans spoke English which is the country's official language. I guess I could see why they put it in for the older man though I understood 100% of what he was saying. But the younger guy was speaking perfect English, easily understandable to anyone with non-American friends. (Btw, I'm American).

It's called white supremacy, or American supremacy to be exact. My country is one of the most educated countries in the world consistently ranked 1st or 2nd in various metrics including the english language; our national language is English and you'll struggle to find another Asian country whereby you can casually converse in the language with just about any random person you come across. Sad reality is that as long as we're an Asian country, we'll always be seen as the lesser one to America.
