Fast Forward to Queensland: Moon Point to Port Bundaberg 02 July 2024.

With several days of heavy winds predicted, I decided that the smart thing to do would be to make the crossing of Hervey Bay to Port Bundaberg. Here I would be able to shelter from the coming winds in the Burnett River.
I intended to leave very early but the conditions persuaded me to wait until daylight. The tricky channel manoeuvres to avoid the shallow patches took a bit of doing.
The wind didn't come up as strongly as the forecast so the two reefs I had put in my mainsail I shook out.
It was a grey miserable day and rained on and off consistently no sun was seen at anytime. As they say Queensland, beautiful one day perfect the next. Yesterday I was certainly waiting for the next.
I had a good turn of speed for most of the day coming in with an average of around 4.5 knots. I was however very thankful to finally drop by anchor in the Burnett River and get a decent night sleep.
