Pretty good video. I have the EXT IDLE button sending a ground signal to relays for both the idle up mod and the fan override mod. Its handy having them work together since the high idle increases coolant flow. It also saves room and let's you use the 4 hole bezel if your lucky enough to find one. If you want to throw a code just put the AC on. I'm pretty sure you'll get the code Cuz the computer is selfish and doesn't want to give up control. I went through the whole winter with no code, then finally when I needed AC I got the CEL. Still looking for a solution. Thanks!

That sounds like great set up! Thanks for sharing. Good idea to save some switch space. I might have to look into that in the near future.

same thing happened to me, no code, AC on got code. hope you can find a solution. Ivè been looking at diodes but haven`t found a way of making it work. Good luck! Ill be looking. if I find something ii`l let you know.

I hooked mine up with a four pin relay so that the computer will still operate it as well

Extended idle. When you did your test it was only a .1 volt difference, and like you said it doesn't seem like a big deal, but you also have a 5.9 140A alternator, and it can provide more power at idle over a stocker. Also what you may have missed is the fact that as you increase the load at idle that voltage will drop. Most alternators (and probably no factory) aren't designed to put out maximum power at idle. They usually don't start until 1000/1200 rpm. So that being the way they work with you're extended idle at 1000 rpm the alternator will keep up with the heavy amp draw where as it can't at 750 rpm. Oh, and one other thing people don't catch with the extended idle is that you're also increasing the coolant flow through the system, and effectively helping keep the engine at proper operating temp when parked. Fan over ride, and the probably the real reason you don't alway get a code. When the PCM sets a code it takes several key cycles (unless is a gross misfire code) for it to actually light the MIL. So if you don't use that override every time you drive your rig it could take quite some time for it to actually throw the code.

My 99 i did it on firewall plug (high idle)

One other point about the extended idle switch. It keeps your oil pressure up near 40 psi.

More pressure = more lubrication = more better

hey *Enlisted*. the reason I don't think the long wire to your switch is the reason it won't throw a code is because when you demo'd it in the beginning with a short wire to ground, it didn't throw a code. you could try throwing a code by doing that again for longer periods of time to see if it throws a code. .

Enlisted Budget Videos Its a good video.... But if I have othe kind of computer? Can I do the same with the extended idle?
@jackboerger58037 жыл бұрын
the switch panel has an led which is a diode that is why it didn't throw the code
@donaldfafard7 жыл бұрын
seriously? what a great idea. use an LED switch and it kills two birds with one stone. genius. .

@EnlistedBudgetVideos7 жыл бұрын
Heath Pierce use a switch with an LED light in it. That may fix it. A Light Emitting Diode (LED) is a diode all the same.

Enlisted Budget Videos How would you wire this? Most led switches have 3 terminals. I understand how to wire a two terminal switch for the C2 wire. But how do you integrate the LED so it prevents the CEL?
@TheMrc2265 жыл бұрын
First, I want to thank you for your service! I did the wireing and it worked fine until I turned on the AC. I instantly got CEL. If you can figure out a way of getting rid of that I would love to do it. Thanks

Great video but I still don't understand how you setup the switch so it grounds out? lol I'd like to see how the switch is wired
@EnlistedBudgetVideos7 жыл бұрын
The switch is operated off the ground wire from the appropriate wire for the efan or the high idle. Literally splice in, run the ground wire to a switch, and then a ground somewhere close by.
@agustinhidalgo4055 жыл бұрын
Did u use a 3 prong led switch or 4 pin switch
@daronsmith30795 жыл бұрын
So I tried this today but when I connected everything up the way you said my engine started running rough and tripped a code so I went ahead and tested the wire with a volt meter and it has 13 V going to it ??

when i did mine there were several "grey" wires. one grey and black, one grey and red and two solid grey. be sure to get pin 12A. not just any wire that has grey on it

Why not just adjust the idle so it is always over 1000 rpm? fuel savings?
@MrMrsregor8 жыл бұрын
high idle is not wanted for driving or shifting into drive, mostly for winching, OBA, on borad welder.....things like that....

It works for you because your light switch has an led inline light emitting "diode"

Quick question are those seats in the XJ factory? If not what did they come out of? They look nice, also cool video thanks

They are leather seats out of a WJ. Easy swap, just bolt the seats to an XJ seat track and you're golden.

did your jeep come with leather seats? thanks
@EnlistedBudgetVideos8 жыл бұрын
+tk106 no it did not. They are from a WJ I found in my local pick and pull. The bolt pattern for the seat is the same as the XJ seat tracks so it is easy to swap in.
@AWD_T8 жыл бұрын

@AWD_T8 жыл бұрын
What year WJ? thanks
@EnlistedBudgetVideos8 жыл бұрын
+tk106 nope no fab work. Unbolt your seat from your XJ and bolt that WJ seat on. Easy peasy. I think it was a 99' doesn't matter as long as it's a WJ or ZJ with leather seats. You can even wire in the adjustment motors if you wanted. I didnt. Cost too much from the yard.
