It really does make a huge difference. I had the FAST 92mm intake manifold on my C6 LS2. Along with the other bolt ons (headers, higher stall torque converter, ported stock throttle body, Vararam Snake Charmer, ATI underdrive pulley, dyno-tuning, drag radials and skinnies etc.) it'd helped me run a best of 10.7@127+mph in the 1/4 mile. Stock internals/naturally aspirated/bolt-on mods only, in good air of course. Don't throw out that old stock LS2 intake manifold though, it is still worth a little money. 🙂

My buddy has a 2006 GTO with the LS2 and a T56, and he recently did a FAST LSXR 102 to it as well as a Texas Speed chop monster cam. He already straight-piped it, and threw headers on and it's been retuned. As is, it's an absolute rocketship now for being NA stock displacement. I can feel the difference riding shotgun, and it sounds amazing. I'm thinking of doing an LSXR to my C5 z06 soon to help with airflow when running a boost cam that I have to swap in for my A&A kit.

I watched this last night and am watching it again....I'm glad I did, because I just realized that you didn't replace the throttle body. So you can keep the stock 92mm throttle body and it will bolt right up to the FAST 102? Does FAST explain why only that one corner of the intake needs RTV?

@@Toys4Life You’re only off by a little bit. 😅 I had Kooks long tube headers and the X-pipe with the green Catalytic Converters installed on my 2012 Grand Sport (M6) in April. Parts alone were $3417.00. I’m told the old Kooks HF cat equipped Xpipe is no longer made but even that combo was $2400. I love the difference my setup along with a Haltech intake and a tune has made. No change drivability, but it runs like scalded dog when you put your foot in it. I love the format and content of your channel. It’s helped me make informed decisions regarding the plan I take for my Vette. Maybe this is addressed in part two but any thoughts about the benefits or lack there of the FAST LSXr 102 manifold on the LS3? Keep up the great work! Thanks, John

I had no idea the LS2’s intake manifold was so inefficient. It’s cool to see that these cars are still being modded. How difficult was it to learn how to tune? I remember way back it was a big deal and cost more than tuning a Ford. Looking forward to PT2. Thanks for posting.

I actually bought one of these LXR intakes for my 01 C5 but I returned it. I wasn't sure if I could use my stock parts with this LXR. I was thinking it was a direct bolt in. I wasn't sure with all the research I did so I just returned it. I already had a BBK throttle body and it looked like it wouldn't fit properly. The research I did find out was the factory intake on a 01 C5 was pretty decent to begin with so I just kept it as is with my throttle body and long tube headers/ x pipe. Maybe in the future by watching this video part 1 and 2 I will reconsider buying and installing one.
@nowayjose596Ай бұрын
01-04 C5s came with the LS6 intake which was a definite improvement over the LS1 (+10-20 rwhp). It's kind of weird that GM then took a step backwards with the LS2 intake (followed by another big step forward with the LS3 intake), but I'm sure they had their reasons. The LSXR 102 on a C5 also requires aftermarket fuel rails and some clearancing to clear the cowl I believe. In your case, since you already have an LS6 intake, definitely not worth it IMO bc you wouldn't see nearly as much gain compared to those with an LS1 or LS2 intake.

The fuel line does not have to be separated. After you have removed the fuel rails and injectors, the fuel line will rotate up and back and it will rest on the windshield and be out of the way. Be sure to put a large cloth on the windshield to protect it. This has been done many times with no ill effects. Regards,
@Toys4LifeАй бұрын
100% agree. I like to do it anyway so that the inevitable gunk that ends up at the tip of the injectors can be cleaned plus I like to clean the rail with it off. But your point is accurate and appreciated!

@Toys4LifeАй бұрын
IMO LS2 heads flow well - but the LS3 heads do flow better (:-). LS3 intake is decent - doesn't benefit as much from the FAST LSXR 102 from the majority of feedback I have seen. If a guy could find both heads and the intake for a good price it would be an even better mod!

I have a question for anyone who may be able to help. I have a 2005 base corvette with automatic transmission, from what I understand it'd an early production vehicle. I wanted to use a predator hand held tuner on it, which I know isn't the best, but I wanted to adjust fan temp and firm up my shifts some, and whatever little performance boost I could get on a pretty much stock car except for an intake and catback exhaust. I can't upload the tuner onto the car because of the programming on the car and it being an early production car. I've been told it needs the firmware updated, but the dealership wants a thousand dollars for this which is crazy. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks in advance.

You have to port these, the build quality is suspect on the lsxr and the msd atomic

I don't agree that they have to be ported. Will Tony mamo add another five horsepower or so by porting, probably. That having been said, and part two coming soon, I inspected the ports and everything in general and it appears to be decent quality to me. Perhaps they had some bad batches made on Friday afternoons?? Who knows.
