If you are in the vicinity of ANY of the current wildfires in Cali and you have a pool, please remove any furniture, toys, grills, anything that can go flying and please be kind and remove ANY obstructions and allow these helicopters to scoop water out of your pool if you possibly can, safely. If you can, please call your local non emergency line, give them your address, and inform they are welcome to scoop water out of your pool if needed. Most importantly, if you are able to to allow them to scoop water from your pool, please turn your water hose on and first wet around the parameter of your home and then put the water hose in your pool to help keep refilling so they do NOT have to travel long distances away to get water. If you have to evacuate and have a pool again do ur best to wet around your house and just leave the water hose on and in your pool and get out as fast and safely as you can and inform authorities you have a pool and left hose running so they can use it if needed. God Bless, we are praying for EVERYONE to remain safe, nobody loses their life and/or homes.

A grouping of crop dusters with Class A firefighting foam could put a stop to theses fires. The winds aren't too strong to fly a S.E.A.T. How can the KTLA helicopter fly over this fire while Cal Fire and other local FD aircraft are nowhere to be found? The winds are calm. The Fire Boss being interviewed is full of bull.

I live at the far westward end of this fire, the leading edge and directly downwind from it. It came within 1000yds of my house last night. I can assure you there was 2 firehawks, 2 Hueys, and at least one chinook constanly on the leading edge of this fire ALL NIGHT long. They shook our house every pass from late afternoon to early this AM. They picked up water from the quarry pond at the far west of South Mountain and would dump on the flames surrounding the pond and headed directly to the riverbed toward our neighborhood that was getting ash and embers. The problem is the wind and terrain makes flying, and getting water drops on target difficult. These Santa Ana winds are unpredictable. The wind will blow 50mph sustained, and suddenly gust to 80. When the wind hits these steep hillsides, the eddy effect as well as the upwelling, further enhanced by the hot rising air, forms very powerful sporadic swirling updrafts making the targets on the steep slopes challenging. In order to be effective, the drops have to be done at a very low altitude in turbulent air, with a risk of being pushed into the hillside. If the altitude isnt low enough, the water atomizes into a mist and never reaches the ground with the hot upwelling air. Foam is an impossibility in these conditions, its too light and will just blow and snow down miles away. Even when the surrounding winds seem calm, These hillsides and canyons funnel and concentrate wind areas, as well as localized wind created by the fire itself. I flew R2 and R4 trainer helicopters out of both airports in this fire zone, Santa Paula on the north side of the mountain and Camarillo on the west side, and very familiar flying around these particular hillsides. I practiced autorotation landings in the river bed at the west end base of this mountain, which is currently on fire, and I still observe student pilots doing the same every morning from my porch while having coffee. As for the news choppers, they are flying well above 5000 feet AGL, using a very powerful stabilized 40X zoom HD camera, well above the wind effects of the terrain.

@ when the winds are calm gusting to 15mph you can fly low and you can get to areas that need fire suppression. You don’t need a Huey or a Chinook to target areas downwind in the ember cast. A crop duster filled with water and 2% solution of Class A foam is enough to get crops, fields and homes wet so they don’t burn. This was all looked at by CDF, BLM and the National Forest Service in the 80’s and 90’s. The problem is that new chiefs come along that were not exposed to the training so they disregard past experience because they were not involved in it.

LOL! That is funny, but surprisingly, not so much the case in this area. This fire came within 1000yds of my house last night. In the area I live in, I dont recall seeing Kamala signs at all through the whole campaign, but plenty of Trump stuff. Large parts of SoCal are surprisingly red, although the media and state governance make it seem otherwise. Cali as a whole is a blue wall state, but only by a much slimmer margin than most believe, and the gap is shrinking. There are millions of us conservatives here.
