Bingo !! You hit my problem with these ! Usually getting an annoying buzz, hum or worse, hitting another string. Plus, I'm so used to just using those pull - offs and hammer - ons with my pinky and ring finger. Have to get that middle finger into the party. Makes a huge difference. PEACE from Philadelphia

You're right, these are licks more so than riffs. These licks can be used to construct riffs.

did you work your way up to that insane left hand fast muscle twitch? I’ve been playing for 20 years and while in music school (despite being self taught) my guitar teacher told me there’s a limit on speed and twitch, right hand I can get up to 180 16th notes but left hand is far from as smooth as urs. I was also gonna comment on how good ur right hand muting is and u mentioned the importance halfway. Keep rocking!
@jakebucher1
@jakebucher1 Жыл бұрын
I definitely worked my way up to this speed. I'm sure you already know, but practicing with a metronome and gradually increasing the bpm by 3-5 works well when I'm trying to build speed. 16th notes at 180 is no joke. Maybe start a little slower at a bpm more comfortable for your left hand and gradually increase. Right hand muting is such an important thing that's difficult to teach. My rule is to work on muting all the strings that you're not playing with a combo of both hands. You constantly have to adjust your hands as you play to keep change the way you mute. I think a big thing is to rest your picking hand on the strings just past the bridge. Almost the same way you palm mute. Keep it up V L K V, there's always room for improvement and to grow. It never ends!!

Ok, what enables the note to ring out so well when you hammer on it? It's like you just lay your finger on the string and it's as good as picking it? What am I missing?
@jakebucher1
@jakebucher1 Жыл бұрын
Hey Marty, thanks for checking out the video. I think it's a couple of things that go into play. First, making sure that you are hammering the note with a decent amount of force. I strike from about an inch above the fretboard. Another thing is to make sure that all other strings not being played are being properly muted. Without seeing you attempt a hammer on yourself, it's tough for me to pinpoint your exact problem. Hope that helps. Hit me up if you're ever interested in an online lesson.

Don’t listen to the negative comments, this is a great video. My only suggestion would be to post a link to the reference PDF/Image/tab in the description. I would have paid for it no problem if priced reasonably.

@Emcfree2084

@@jakebucher1 Thats a tricky one and would depend on how much info was in there compared to what can just be screen grabbed from where you share at the start of the video, how it was presented, how easy/convenient it is to pay and how many turnarounds you would be looking to get. What I would guesstimate is that for a copy of what you share on screen early in the video, 1.99 might be a no brainer purchase for many. Maybe you could have some bonus licks which you only get the transcriptions for when you purchase.

Not sure how he could show it any slower or clearer? Do you know the Minor pentatonic scales and their differences by positions? If so the tabs he has shows it crystal clear. And he going about slow enough to boar even a beginner.

@@jakebucher1 Don't try too hard ! Yeah, tabs can be ok sometimes but without tabs, we as students, whether beginner or intermediate, have to rely more on our own ears instead of looking at tabs. Sticks with me a lot better using my own ears. Just some feedback. It's not like these are all over the neck and a couple were the exact same but just in a different position. I'm grateful for you just showing and playing.
