For the decimal 0.128282828... , l believe that the fast trick is the following: Two digits repeat and one digit comes after the decimal point before the repeating groups, so the denominator’s digits are two 9’s followed by a 0. So use 990 for the denominator. The decimal digits up to the first complete repeating group form the number 128. The single decimal digit before any repeating group is 1. The numerator is 128-1 = 127. So we get 127/990. This is already fully simplified.
