This band always should've been bigger and for longer. So much pop music from the 90s is relatively disposable now but their stuff still holds up. Cross between rock, country, roots, latin, just a great sample of the Austin music scene. Simply good music.

This song more than any song and I know almost every song brings me back in time to a berry very colorful time in my life. It was that summer of 98 just graduated high school I still had that feeling of misbelief that my life had changed forever a mix of sadness that I’d never share the day with so many friends under one roof many whom I grew up with since the first day of kindergarten but yet with that feeling of freedom and excitement knowing the possibilities of my life were near infinite that feeling of being new yet a man who was on top of the world and could attempt to be whatever I wanted to be. A man who had an abundance of time at his disposal. This particular song playing over the Sears intercom everyday I went to work selling computers and cordless phones lol wearing my dress clothes and new ties omg I have to stop

Great song. Was watching an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer some time ago and this song was on it - and I realized I hadn’t heard it in over twenty years. This was the follow up to The Way, and if you weren’t around in ‘98 then you have no idea how saturated that song was on the top 40 radio format. A smash hit like that for an unknown band usually results in a one-hit-wonder status because the follow-up usually isn’t as strong. This is a great song, but not in the same way The Way was.

Fond memories! Imagine.. late teens, I used to play this song in my head while working in the local hardware store, probably while fantasizing about a fellow cashier that I worked with. Now realistically, this single, as good as it was - and arguably better than The Way - was probably the “death” of fastball, because they had another dude singing. Mixed messaging from breakout acts is ballsy at best and would’ve required Beatles level of sensation, which it wasn’t.
@shawnieBaby Жыл бұрын
I still love them so much! I played the hell out of that album and now it’s a forever favorite. Even my sixth favorite song is so good, right? I was a bit excited to see that they’re on tour, but they’re appearing with 3 other bands that were slightly less appealing overall? I mean, I wouldn’t mind seeing any of those other artists supporting Fastball, but…🤔 Okay. It’s pretty cheap and local. A definite maybe. 🙏

I believe this video is a single shot. However the inside camera is a handheld while the outside camera is on a crane. My guess is the handheld cameraman stepped onto the crane when the actress was trying to open the car door. Either that or it's 2 shots with the cut being where the camera pans back to the closing front door and briefly shows only a white stucco wall.
@leviathan_is_me4 жыл бұрын
Called a whip pan and yes there are several in this. Typically any 1 shot that has an erratic fast camera "whip" is a break to a seperate shot without breaking flow. Great example is the 1st person scene in "Doom". There was only 1 in the whole 4 minute sequence. Or in "Serenity" the tracking shot that goes throughout the entire ship and introduces the crew has a good one that is seamless and puts 2 entirely different sets together as one.....yes I am a nerd and a wealth of useless knowledge.
