Faster than a 307 ?? Testing on the "new" 350 small block in the '70 Nova

We take our engine swapped 70 nova junk yard rescue project to Island Drag way for the last friday night test and tune of the season. Will the mystery $400 350 Cu small block chevy be faster than our budget build high compression junk yard 307 engine?

I am looking for the 307 to make a comeback. My friend in 81 had a 307 he rebuilt in some kind of work release program. Pretty stock, with a cam and a 4 bbl intake. No strip numbers, but in his 67 chevelle, it felt like a 12 second car. Looking forward to more vids.

For sure it,s a 13 car considering no gears no torque converter,not bad at all 14.22.

@chrisland169- The last engine in this car was a 307 cu. In., with the same gears, & tq. Converter, & that smaller engine ran in the 13s! That along with the water pump pulley bolt issue, is why these guys are so disappointed.

He's got IIRC a 2,800 or 2,500 stall and 3.73 rear gears. That was a sad run compared to the SBC 307 that was only running on 7.5 cylinders that would run high 13s. If the cam lobe didn't go flat, he had enough things to do to get the car in the 12s with the 307.🤷

Don't beat yourself up so bad because you guys did that motor swapping one night, trying to get it to go to the race the next morning. Things don't always go the way we want it to go. You made a successful pass and found that you had some stuff wrong. Do not defeat it, you took one step back. Don't give up on the car and yes, I can't wait till you get the venture started to get. It's a beautiful car.I shouldn't get rid of it

Hatch your going to have better results out of the 350 maybe change your heads a better cam lifters and you might want even to put a nitrous kit at least 150 shot and YOU,LL BOTH BE HOOKED if not already 11 low 12s yes whats your gears in rear ?
