If there were no rules F1 cars would be much faster. This car has aerodynamics that are forbidden in F1. Also this car drives 12 miles and needs a refuel. So unless a race is like 7 laps...

@@wybren I won't believe the ID R is faster than a normal F1 even with the strict rules until a direct comparison of lap times proves me wrong. I mean, even the 919 Evo Spa lap record was broken in 2018 F1 qualifying (despite rain in Q3, they might have gone even quicker). Of course a no-regulation F1 car could be even faster, but the fact that Porsche barely managed it with the 919 Evo shows how damn fast even normal F1 cars are. I just think it's funny how some videos claim to feature a car that would beat an F1 car, even if that's either not the case or not really settled yet.

The reason why F1 cars Had to be regulated so much was the Power - especially from the 3.5litre Turbos - was getting to far in front of Tyres and Brakes technology. People often forget that Stopping an F1 car is one of the most important factors in constant speed and Handling - which is The most Important Factor. Therefore you need Excellent Aero, Brakes and the Tyres to Complement each other perfectly. After that, it's strap on the most Reliable & Economic Fast Powerplant and Go Racing. Engines developed for F1 do make their way into Road cars, but the reliance is on Cost, Usability & Reliability! F1 cut costs by changing Engine size to 1.5litres, which is bang in the middle of the 1.0L & 2.0L engines bought by the majority of Fleet Buyers - including all the Car Hire Co.s, Driving Schools etc - (Taxis still the domain of Diesel engines !) And Private Car buyers. Most of who - bizarrely enough! - want Reliability, Economy, Room inside and then Performance. That's why there are more Ford Focus 1.4 - 1.6 litre engine cars sold than Focus ST.s or any mix of Gti.s, SRi.s, WRXs etc Most new cars are bought by Families. Most families that have 2 cars will have 1 New & 1 Most Reliable, Safe and Economic to Own & Run 2nd car. So where are the attributes of F1 cars to be used ? Safety for 1 - ABS braking for example. Fuel Injection for Economy or Power. But in the last 5 years it's the big increases in HP to CC. Simply put, look at how many cars from All major manufacturers have gone to 3 cylinder, sub 1.5litres engines with Superchargers & even pairing with Turbos, mixed with EM systems that are close to Magical - which put together into a Car that are 15 - 30kgs heavier in Safety Equipment than Cars they are replacing ! Top of my head says a: 1.4L 4cyl fi.VW Polo* with about 90hp & 40mpg (RW !) is easily beaten by 1.0L 3cyl, 100hp tsi. getting 48+mpg And is probably €1200 cheaper in Real terms ! (* just as an example - I don't have real figures to hand, but am extrapolating from a lot of Facts & Stats from helping my daughters buy best VFM cars over the last 15yrs or so - & that was taking "It has to be Cute!" into consideration !!) So. NO FLAT OUT 250mph! F1 Cars in Any Future. I've been watching F1 since the 1970's, through 6 wheel Tyrrells, to "Ground Effect" (that was a Mad Time! Read about it! ) to 3.5L Turbo 'Monsters' - which just shredded Tyres. They were 'limited' to Top-out @ 185mph. A lot of the Track & Lap Records were set then, but even with No Turbos & smaller Engines, Aerodynamics & Tyre Tech meant the last 90's & the new 2000's were periods of watching fantastic Drivers blowing away Track & Lap Records year on year. And even though I have less interest now in F1 - I've switched allegiance fully to BTCC & ETCC, as I think that Sport is closer to the ethos of the F1 I grew up with & it's much easier to follow on TV. than in it's halcyon days of the early 70's, when a Local Car Dealership could afford to run a Team ! Anyways, hope that helped a bit to explain - to my eyes - the benefits we don't see, but do get, from F1 Tech. 👍☘POD🍀🖖 😷 TO ALL BE SAFE: STAY WELL: PLEASE WEAR MASKS - If Not For Yourself, Then For Other People! - Especially The People Like My Wife & 2 Of Our 4 Girls Who Have Been Essential Workers From The Beginning Of Lockdown. Does you promise all the way from prospecting mines to the decompose ens of everything on it, how does mining rare earth metalls and other needed minerals affect the envoirement, and what leaks when it crashes and burns är knows that firefighters usual protection equipment wasn't up to the task to protect the firefighters from the gases of burning batteries and those batteries that caught fire either had an explosive blasting fire or it is shielded in s way that makes it nearly impossible to put out the fire that then goes on to burn inside the batteries for close to 24 hours. Pollution is about more than what comes out of the exhaustpipes, but of course if we manage all the others stages to make a clean chain of production stages electric cars are much cleaner to drive if the rised demands for electricity is meet with a clean production goal for that electricity. But I don't think the kombination engine is going away totally it's rather going to search for cleaner fuels than petrol and diesel and if that is found there is a chance that it gives the electric car a match för the money, if and when it becomes a less vulnerable supply chain than the electric grid can provide in some areas, I emergency situation natural catastrophies, manmade catastrophies or wars makes a heavily centralized and automated electricity supplychain very vulnerable that we must hope our leaders don't neglect and walk straight into without considerations of the future mailfunctions, to little deepth in the discussion before taking decissions may be sweet today and crowdpleasing but if a event happens and those happy crowdes becomes heavily affected that can change pretty fast when desperation comes into play.

I’ve purchased an electric bicycle a year ago for commuting. After the first ride I looked back at my motorbike. It looked old, dirty, ancient and feels like a technology from the previous era. I’m sold on electric and as soon as batteries get better and e-motorcycles cheaper I’m getting one. Electric is what combustion was to a steam engine and it feels exactly like this.

Just imagine. A racing series with no performance rules where brands make things like this. Theres a drivers and constructors championship, but to spice it up, drivers swap teams every race to prove which one has the most speed at any given car, and what car is fast no matter who drives it. Salaries are standard and paid evenly by all teams, and every team gets the same bonus no matter what position they get. It would be marvelous, get sponsors in like crazy and show what both drivers and brands can do without limits.

We need a neutral car where we get each of the top racers from F1 & F2 to make a comparison lap around a circuit once a year. This could be the car for that. Would help with all the speculation about who is the best driver. Obviously it wouldn't factor in all of the benefits of setting up a car etc. but it would give a great natural speed comparison.

What They did at pikes peak, is exactly what the Lightning motorcycle comp. did in 2013 with the LS-218 electric motorcycle that was back then called the lightning Barracuda by beating almost everything there except the top of the top of the food chains and still today the Lightning LS-218 is the fastest roads legal motorcycle you can buy with a top speed of 218 mph. 👍👍👍
