@AvB.835 жыл бұрын
They would have to pit every 4 laps or so and swap the batteries. As far as I know, recharging is pretty much out of the window, that's not an engineering challenge, it's just physically impossible. I guess if you build the car for it, swapping out the batteries in about the same time as you change the tires should be possible... it would be possible for road cars if the manufacturers could be bothered to agree on standardized battery sizes, you'd just pull up at the right spot at the fuel station, press a button, empty battery goes out, full one goes in. If they had done that, petrol/diesel engines would probably be done by now...

Williams wouldn't complete the lap to save parts... Looking at the nurburging lap average speed particularly during cornering, actually in a really technical track like Hungaroring the car may actually beat an F1 car, but that's with regulations, letting any F1 car run at full power and it will obliterate anything without breaking a sweat... @@cesargarciaalbarran337 no, its to heavy. There is not a single track layout in the F1 calendar that would favor this car over an F1 car. An F1 car still has more down force too. F1 cars have almost 2 times the lateral cornering g forces. There is not a single chance in the world that it comes anywhere close to them. The title of this video is click bait. The tracks that you would aim to beat f1 cars at are actually the high speed ones like monza and spa because for the low speed ones mass matters more than power. As far as actual lap time in the Nurburgring Nordschleife a F1 car would lap it in probably just over 5 minutes but the IDR, over 6 minutes. It'll be a complete effort from all fronts. High power to get up to speed instantly and then shutting down half way down the straight, coasting to save battery. Energy recoup as much as possible during braking, and repeat. You'd certainly save more time from the driver using less energy, than to make it up with charging in the pits.

@Pouya Sharifian Yeah, look up historic lap records for tracks, 2000s cars lapped just about as fast as modern cars. Today there are too many regulations limiting laptimes, you have to use a 1.6T V6 hybrid at a 15k max rev with limited fuel flow, you can't have a certain diffuser, you can't have a certain front wing... Don't expect Formula 1 to get faster as time passes.

THe ORange modern f1 cars produce more power than early 2000s f1 cars (~1000 to ~850), but most importantly a current f1 car has a lot more grip than the 2000s one, not only because of downforce, but because of wider ungrooved tires aswell (and the 2000s car was also using wet tires during this run i think)

Not realy viable for a Endurance Race anytime soon. But you could have a wonderful Track Session even with current limited kwh capacity.

No mention of temperature control which is as huge an issue for EVs as pack weight. Note how the IDR slowed down at end of Nurbuergring final straight. Anything below 15 deg C has an effet on Formula E packs. They like around 25 deg C. Anything above 60 deg C causes limp mode and above 64 Deg C shutdown to avoid thermal run away. Motors and Inverters also have temp limits.
