Thanks a lot. By this method please show how to do HCF of A. 18, 54, 81 B. 34, 102 C. 20, 28, 36 D. 24, 36 There is confusion on how to manage the factors which are repeated.

I will be glad to help in 18, 54 and 81 you know that 81 is odd so its not in table of 18 So HCF must be less than 18 then now the smallest difference is 81 - 54 = 27 Now 27 does not divide 18 so prime factorise 27. we get 3 × 3 × 3 Now we will take the products from these 3 factors that give a number less than 18 and also divides 54 and 81 one of them is 3, other is 3 × 3. we cant take 3 × 3 × 3 as it will become 27 itself So our HCF is either 3 or 9 but 9 is greater than 3 so HCF = 9 Lets take 24 and 36 difference = 12 12 × 2 = 24 and also 12 × 3 = 36 so HCF = 12 Lets do 20, 28, 36 Now smallest difference either ways is 8 8 does not divide any so we prime factorise it 2 × 2 × 2. The products that are smaller than 8 are 2, or 2 × 2 = 4 We see that 2 divides all ince all are even but also 4. since 4 is greater HCF is 4 Now finally 34 and 102 Here difference is 68 Prime factorising 68 will give 17 × 2 × 2 now since all numbers are even we have HCF as 17 × 2 = 34 Hopefully it helps 😊

She would used a wrong method. HCF is Highest common Factor, the answer is not just a prime factor. ex. the HCF of 30,and 45 is 15, is not 5.

It works for 36,81 also...81-36=45...but 45 is not divisor of 81 and 36....so split 45as 9*5...5 is not common divisor... but 9 divides both numbers..so 9 is HCF...that is as she said in the 2nd model

Ma'am , how can we find the HCF of 3192 & 14280 ...? The ans is 168. By yr calculation method , the difference is 11088. It can be written as 2×5544. Even though 3192 & 14280 is divisible by 2 , it ain't the ans. & there isn't 168 in the prime factorisation of 11088...🙁
