Tara, When Roger Penske developed and engine in private that took the 1995 Indianapolis 500 by storm, he called it "The Beast", and it destroyed the competition. Your are THE BEAST of the AT. Your team is also phenomenal, and is hardly chump change. However, I watched your video where Rascal explained the name of the team, and it's fine. Love watching your progress.

Great idea getting new shoes right before the rocks of Pennsylvania. I think you have mentioned changing your shoes quite often. How many shoes have you gone through on the trail so far?

I am really enjoying this video series! I am so glad you took the extra time and effort to capture it on video. I just completed a 2 year 2023/2024 AT nobo lash in October. You are covering in hours what took me days to complete. It seems almost superhuman what you did. I was hoping for some footage of the super steep boulder field descent down Lehigh Gap into Palmerton! Do you have that footage? It would be great to see if you had it. I imagine it would be tough to film with a hand held camera. I am guessing you might need a headband mounted camera to catch that footage. Wishing I would have seen the blur and heard the sonic boom as you blew past me on trail! I did have a very brief opportunity to meet Rascal when she stopped by the Hikers Welcome hostel in Glencliff, NH for long enough to do a load of laundry. I took 4 zeros at Hikers Welcome recovering from a severe case of trenchfoot after hiking in rain and wet shoes for 2.5 days from Hanover to Glencliff.

What are the palm protectors you are wearing? I presume they are for saving your palms if happen to trip and catch yourself, or need to scramble up some rocks.

Hi! They are pole attachments actually but I wore them the entire time to protect my palms from falls! They are shark gloves by Leki

What you’ve done just doesn’t happen, no female sets a man’s record it’s just not done. Every major company should take notice and see what you have done, it’s not like the Military Army, Navy and Marines were they lower the standards so Women can qualify. Same way with the fire department They lowered the standards for Women so they can get hired. Even though you’re a female no one lower the standards for you. You broke that record heads up fair and square As I said before some major company should sponsor you. You need a good manager.

Yeah what Tara and team did is a big deal. Not just for the hiker community, hiking or the AT (good publicity for the AT) but also for women athlete's and women in sports.

Women are increasingly winning ultra-endurance competitions outright. There was Courtney Dauwalter at the Moab 240 mile endurance run or Leah Goldstein winning RAAM, a coast-to-coast bike race across the US as examples.
