One thing I LOVE about these cubing competitions is how supportive everyone is of each other, and to see the kids going nuts to support Max's achievement is incredible! My son has done a couple of these competitions, and both times, it was awesome to see how it's mostly run by the kids, and brings so many different types of kids together. Athletic kids, intellectual kids, band kids, theater kids, gamers, even kids with special needs, etc. They all excel, and all the cliquey walls that can form sometimes in these various groups are broken down when these kids are at a cubing competition. Again, awesome to see! Max, as a sports dad who never thought I'd be interested in the cubing world, I have become a big fan of yours thanks to my son's interest in cubing, and I couldn't be happier for you! Well done!

For the non-cubers out there some info on how insanely fast this is: - 60 second is already quite quick for normal people (this was the goal for KZbinrs Michelle Khare and Mike Boyd) - The world record at the first world championship at 1982 was 22.95 seconds - The previous WR was 3.47 seconds: more than 10% more. In these 3.1 seconds he solved the cube in 31 moves: 10 moves per second. It is literally impossible for a human to react realtime to these kinds of speeds (Formula 1 drivers have a reaction speed of 0.2 - 0.3 seconds). The way he was still able to do it is by already looking for what his next moves are gonna be while the cube is whizzing at 10 moves per second. That's why you see so many kids in this video: most adult brains just don't work fast enough to think at these kinds of speeds.

60 seconds is quick? Nah, the average speedcuber takes about 30 seconds to solve a Rubik's cube. You can litterally get 60 seconds with just two days of practice.

​@@srod2966i started cubing about a month ago . On first 3 days i could solve it 5 mins . The next 4 days of the week i reached 3 mins . Second week 2 mins . Third week(learned and practiced normal CFOP) 54 sec . And it's been about 10 days since i started memorising 121 algorithms and know some f2l algs . I can now finish in 31 . What i'm trying to say is that it's not so hard to reach 20 .for normal IQ people like me . 😂 But sub 20 records need so much more practice and of course more expensive cubes. I'm still using a 7 dollar cube😂

If Max can take the 3^3 average and OH 3^3 average without losing any records, he'll be the only person in history besides Feliks Zemdegs to simultaneously hold all single and average records for OH and 3^3 though 7^3, 12 records. If I recall, this has always been Max's primary goal and dream.

There are currently multiple Roux solvers who have the ability to bring the WR down to a nearing impossible level for CFOP solvers. Especially considering that Fahmi was globalling at least Sub-8 at his peak

@@azusabx We actually don't disagree. I also think the OH average is his greatest threat to replicating what Feliks did. Yiheng is a terrifying force though. He's second in the world at 2^3 already. As his hands grow he might very well do what Feliks did but add 2^3 to it which Max and Feliks largely ignored. It's easy to dismiss him but he's literally 9.

my 9 year old son loves this video. his older brother taught him how to solve a rubiks cube several months ago and he has become obsessed. we've gotten him most of the different variants and he has learned to solve them all. he sits with it at the dinner table, on the couch, in bed haha. we got him a timer for christmas and that goes everywhere with him too. he always says "i have to memorize this algorithm" lolol. his best time on the 3x3 is 24 seconds and hes working like a madman to get it even lower. thanks for the video!
