No one rides SFF4 101A, slick AF, it's not a street wheel and no one rides SFF4 for vert so it's a pointless durometer for SFF4 really and even less useful than SFF4 97A..

99a. I ride rough surfaces and 101 make it impossible, literally. For an smooth skatepark 101 are sick, or if you are recording a trick that needs them and you endure the pain to get it. Otherwise... Also, for riding on the streets of the city I live in 99a is not really an option unless you carefully pick the route or you walk a bit with your board in your hands. For that dragons is what I use.

Has to be 99A if one has to choose. But even those on a lot of street spots around here are absolutely jarring. Gets to be better with a wider wheel though. Sometimes the Classic shape’s riding surface sort of gets stuck between the crust when trying to ride. But 101A Classics barely roll before they stop at some spots. Currently in the process of sizing up my entire setup. Last year I skated a lot of 8.25” and 14-14.25” wheel bases, with sub 32” lengths on 52mm Classics or thereabouts. Now building towards 8.625”, 14.75”, 33” and 56mm Conical Fulls (in 99A) and back on AF1s from Venture Highs. This year is going to be epic

And you got clowns above still claiming 101A is usable on street LOL!!!! imagine if they had 97X back in the 80s when there were no skate parks it would be the best selling skate wheels in skate history.
@RikRiorik10 ай бұрын
@@jimmyhuang8730 depends on the street of course. If it’s concrete tiles or relatively new asphalt they work fine. If it’s most streets with dried out, worn down asphalt with the grain popping up around here you’ll be stopping rather abruptly shortly after you’ve stopped pushing and put your weight on the board. But then again it’s not much better with 99A. Again though, riding surface and size often play a big part and make things easier. I find a Concial Full gets the job done much better than a Classic in my circumstances. But I had some rather hefty 55mm Classic 101A Spits on last year and tried pushing around close to home with new bearings and it was positively a horrible experience. No speed. All vibration. Not all all what the Beach Boys were singing about.

I have to agree with you that the spitfires formula 4 conical full shape is the best wheel. I have skated the 101a duro for a few years and then switch to 99a till now. I will continue to skate the 99a since I live in Washington state. It’s a bit softer, so it helps me in a way to get my tricks around easier and it feels a bit smoother too. I try to stick around 54mm-56mm as well.

I still skate but, after I got out of a 15 year relationship, lifes been harsh. I bought a board back in 2019 when ny relationship ended and haven't really used it too much. I'm on my 2nd pair of bones 103a 51mm pj ladd wheels , I don't know at first I didn't like them coming from spitfires but after getting used to them I actually prefer the bones now , I like the color aesthetic of bones and the feel , like the package says it grips where you need it to stick and slides when you need them to slide , I mostly skate park or in front of my house , they also skate good at plaza style flat ground that smooth granite , but rough street they will have a bit trouble to get speed .

I used to get a new set of wheels a month for about 3 years for fun and experimentation, and to find the one magic wheel which seems to be fairly good for all terrain. I no longer do that. Dragon wheels.

Did you try the Bones SPF? They're fast and grip on smooth skatepark. They're maybe more exclusive than Spitfire F4 101. But I don't want to skate 101 on rough ground anyway.
@driftlessskater547510 ай бұрын
Maybe try setting up two boards, but put on some brand new wheels on both with those different durometers. I think that would be a better comparison. Those 99a’s have already been broke in which would make a big difference. I will say that I absolutely hated putting Tablets on my board. The axel sticks out way too far and every time I looked at my board it looked gross.

As far as speed and smoothness goes, I don’t notice much of a difference between formula four 99s and 101s. I do feel like the 101s do feel a little too slippery on some surfaces though. So more often than not I choose 99s. I don’t like the 97s though. Typically I do with other wheels like slimeballs or the new dragon formula 97s. The formula four ones feel a tad too grippy for me. They felt more like 95s to me.

SF F4 101A is slightly faster on smooth surfaces but slick AF and even harder so useless on anything rough, if you like to slip and slam and be useless on rough ground go for the 101A rofl, for the same type of wheel but much more useful I would rather throw the money on Bones SPF 104A which is actually slightly less slippery than SFF4 101A but about the same speed for smooth surfaces, so a better wheel.
