We used to buy ours from village post office as youngsters. :) The tv jingle for standard was 🎵 " light up the sky with standard fireworks "🎵 (sung) Happy memories.

It's possible to do, easily. I could have set fire to my house with a sparkler. My sister gave me a sparkler when I was 3 or 4 and I dropped it and it burnt the wood floor. Could have easily set fire to a cushion or something. Also my grandparents rented out their house and lived in Rome for a few years when my mum was a teen. Renter had a rogue cigarette, whole place burnt down. Its possible
