On the top left of your minecraft server folder, click on view, look to the right and click the checkmark for file name extensions. You will see that you have most likely named your server executable minecraft_server.1.20.4.jar.jar Go ahead and delete the first .jar and it should work. I feel stupid

The EULA agreement thing hasnt shown up. all that i have in the folder is minecraft_server.1.20.4.jar startup.bat (the '.bat' and '.jar' are the extended ones you told us to check for. i deleted the first '.jar' as instructed. I've looked in hidden items just in case that did something and nothing changed. I'm really confused pls help 🙏

just a reminder for everyone to look closely and not mistake JRE Java Runtime Environment for the JDK Java development kit , that is used specifically in the video. the EULA will really not be able to open it if its not the right one. Thanks for the TUT

I'm having a problem with port forwarding, I've done this before, 3 years ago. But now nothing works, I've tried just about everything, manually added the ports inbound/outbound and every single .exe with the word "java" in it. and it doesn't work.

As of this comment, the JDK 23 is live and did NOT let me get past the EULA bc the command window closed every time. I downloaded the previous JDK (JDK 21) and that fixed it

Great video, helped me a lot. I had some issues with server visibility on my own device, because I used my own port and IP from Hamachi... But it was easily resolved in Avast (Hamachi connection wasn´t trusted)

@@BoshyWashy Have you definitely moved the server file into it's own new folder before trying to run it? Also are you definitely sure that you just removed the older version of Java? It might be worth trying the Java install again, and then before making any changes then try and run the server file (in it's own folder)

Make sure you dont copy the .jar when renaming the server, I did this on accident and the end of the file name was “.jar.jar” and it was giving me this issue

If you are wanting to run it all day every day, don't torture yourself and do it on your computer. Buy a Raspberry Pi and run it exactly the same as you did on this tutorial. This should only cost 50-100 USD and you will have it connected forever.

I just fixed my problem that the CMD window instantly gone when you click the .bat file You MUST use JDK, not JRE. This is referring to the Java installation. Download JDK, choose your platform (MacOS, Windows, etc.) For Windows, choose the .msi file (msi stands for microsoft installer) Uninstall Java first if you have the JRE, then install the new one, and try to rerun the .bat file

Aaamazing. I'll come back to this, when I have to think about this. More specifically, I'd like to convert an old PC into a server, as to allocate all of its resources to it and have it running 24/7. Is that something that this does, or is it comparable to an application that lets you host a server from your PC? The former I think, would be a little more useful, because just hosting a server is the equivalent to opening a world to LAN and sharing the connection, which to say, doesn't allow other people to play on the world if the host isn't online at the time.

This usually indicates that you either don't have java, or the version you have is outdated - I'd suggest making sure that this is up to date as the first troubleshooting step

If you're using RDP then presumably you are connecting to a remote server - if this server isn't on your network and is with a hosting service provider, then no you shouldn't need to port forward, you should just need to open the relevant firewall ports with that provider

Hi, Running multiple servers on the same system is an interesting topic, and one that I hope to cover in the near future! Adding mods to a server is actually fairly straight forward - all you need to do is download the mods and then add them to the "mods" folder in the server location (if the folder doesn't exist then just create it). Depending on the mod you might need to create a new world, and of course both you and anyone else joining will need the mod installed. locally.

Had the same issue. The issue was that I had a dynamic IP. After researching for a bit of I found out that I had 2 options (that I know of)either you setup a DynDNS or you call your provider and request a dualstack. I called my provider and asked for a dualstack after which the server worked.

Hi there, That text actually means that the server is online and working. If you were to then join the server through Minecraft you'd see the text in the console update showing that your profile has joined the game, and will show any other changes that happen to the server.

If you're hosting locally then it could be that you need to set up port forwarding - it's a bit complicated to explain here to would recommend looking it up or getting in touch with your ISP to help with that one

Not an issue i've seen before, the only thing I could suggest is removing that eula file and making your own: Filename: eula.txt Inside, paste: eula=true Once that's in place you then try and run the batch file again, if that doesn't work you might want to start the process again from scratch

Hi, your best bet is to download an older version. There are a few ways to do this but one way that I've done personally is using mcversions.net. Here you can search for the version you want, click download and then select the server file for that version. Whilst I've had no issues with this, please be aware that this is a third party site and you do this at your own risk.

Hi, I've just followed the same steps again with the latest update and it seems to work fine for me - the only difference that I can see is that server name in the batch file no longer has the version number in it, but it's the same process of either copying the server file name into the batch file, or the batch file server name out to be the server file name. Hopefully that makes sense, but let me know if there is another issue you are seeing

If that happens then this could indicate that you need to update Java, so definitely make sure that has been done

Hi there, The basic level that this tutorial would leave you at would let you update your server and also install mods, but it's worth keeping in mind that when you start to add mods into the mix the update process will become much more complex and will likely mean you'll need to stick to older versions etc.
