I found liberation in the basic fasting Wednesday & Fridays as Our lady requested. Don’t tell anyone you’re fasting, pray to The Holy Spirit especially and your good Guardian Angel constantly. They’ll help you with this “urge” to eat everything set before you. So just model yourself after Daniel in the book of Daniel. The Holy Spirit enlightened my mind about food and I follow these disciplines to this day! So, maybe just hide yourself in the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts and you’ll ascend the mountain and stay your ground in the Spirit. Also getting rid of your television 📺 and purifying all your senses is helpful. Immensely helpful. Courage!

Gluttony is hard because we have so much food available and I’ve also heard from Dr Marshall that its also nor just abstaining from eating but gluttony also means a desire for dainty or specially prepared food. So if the food is not salty enough or its not the perfectly spiced or not the perfect temperature and texture and so on.

This video is so incredibly helpful! My father has been fasting every Wed and Friday for several years now. When I was a lost sheep I used to think it was cool but always shrugged it off like “I could never.” Now as a born again Catholic, he has called me to consider fasting. I’ve been growing closer to God since my conversion, whenever I thought of fasting this gulp in my throat formed. I’ve always had such poor discipline. Still struggling with it. Anyway, I decided today on Wednesday I want to fast. For God. But only on hour 3 I started getting hungry and like the video suggested I started making excuses in my head and that’s when I searched for this video. I also started thinking how this might help me fit better into my wedding dress in 7 months and felt so guilty for having ulterior motives. I thought what’s the point, if I’m not doing it for God, why do it at all. But obviously that was my weak mind giving up and making excuses again. Hearing that it’s ok for our minds to have those ulterior motives, solidified my decision to go through with it. I hope to do this every Wednesday and eventually every Wednesday and Friday. My father is incredibly close with our Lord. And despite having an extremely difficult life, his trust in God has lifted him and never failed him. I pray that I can get this far in my relationship with God ♥️ May God bless you all!

@@relletolentino9391 I think the key is to keep doing it anyway through prayer, unless it is really bad and debilitating. In that case, maybe you need to consult your physician. If your doctor tells you you can't fast, you can't fast (as in not eat) but there are other methods of mortifying our passions when it comes to food outside of this. If it is debilitating and you cannot consult your doctor, perhaps try some of these methods instead. But if it's just a mild headache I'd think that is relatively normal.

Thank YOU! This is a timely talk. It has taken me a long time to fast. I wanted too, but I was weak. I had gained weight due to stress and my sister's stage 4 cancer. I started giving in to all of her cravings. 3 years and 40 lbs later, I realized my willpower was gone. I started watching Dr. Fung. I wanted to fast with my prayers but my willpower was low. 3 months ago, I gave up sugar, did 16:8 and the weight fell off. My guilt was that it was not pure for the Lord. Now, my willpower from fasting is stronger, and I give it all to GOD! Thanks for this. I love fasting for the Lord!

Anyway, I saw one of your fasting videos the night before and was really mentally preparing myself for today. My job is physical and sometimes, when I am working and fasting, I get bad headaches and a little shakey cuz I don't always have a chance to drink water. So today, I wasn't sure if I would be able to fast the way I wanted to fast. I went to noon mass and the Gospel and homely spoke about fasting! Wow! That was some video. Ways to fight the devil is my priority lately. I practice fasting but has to perfect it for penance. I learned something huge from listening to Fr.Mark Goring’s reading from the book “Mariam of Bethlehem” that, what hurts the devil most is humility and obedience. Remember, Satan fell due to his pride and envy towards the Creator and Savior of the world. I myself bought the book and is almost done with the book. A lot to learn from that book on a life pleasing to God. Thank you for this very important reminder. May God Bless you and all your listeners to be blessed through fasting!

Thank you for this video. I struggle with emotional eating and binge eating. I told myself that fasting from food was off limits since it can trigger binge eating. However, I am starting to believe it’s a lie I am telling myself . I truly believe fasting is powerful enough to allow God to deliver me from this strong addiction and dysfunctional behavior pattern. I’ve worked with therapists and come far but I believe what remains is a spiritual thing. I’ve also seen how my weakness with food spills into other areas where discipline is needed and where discomfort is inescapable. I will watch this video a few more times and pray about guidance on how my fasting can look for this and so many other special intentions. Thank you for this video and for all the good content

Fasting is like a super power from God. Sugar and processed foods are addictions that play games with our minds. Start small and progress. I would recommend trying to go 3 days with no sugar and no simple carbs... that in itself will be very difficult. Then when you are no longer sugar dependent... fasting will be easier.

As a former boxer I understand the benefits of fasting to get ready for a fight. I do different spiritual fasting but my favorite and works for me is two slices of white or whole wheat bread with a cup of water for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I attend Mass and receive communion on those days. I start my fasting at 12 midnight and have a regular meal after 12 midnight. Salad with vegetables because you don't want to anything heavy when you go to bed. So for example It's 12:00 am. My fasting has started. I go to bed and wake up at 6am I pray the Angelus and the rest of my Catholic morning prayers and the rosary and then I eat two slices of bread 🥪 and a cup of water. Then at 12 in the afternoon I pray the Angelus again accompany by the rosary and I'll read a chapter or two of the Gospels and then I eat two slices of bread and a cup of water. And then at 4 I'll do some other prayers, usually I do the Chaplet of divine mercy at 3 and by 4 I just eat two slices of bread and a cup of water again and that would be my last meal for the day until 12 00 midnight. And like I said I go to mass at 7:30 and receive communion that's really my last meal until midnight. And that's how I became a saint😇😁🤣😂🤣. Just kidding 😉 lol. But if your beginner don't do it the way I do it. Start small like a portion of oatmeal or a cup of fruits with some water and have a regular lunch and dinner. You have to built yourself up little by little. God bless everyone

Awesome video - so relevant and I pray more people learn the miracle of this gift God has given us. I do intermittent fasting and low carb (not entirely keto - I eat a lot of beans) - and I have reversed my PCOS. Having watched your videos I have decided that from today I will pray 4 rosaries everyday. i have done a few 3 day water fasts before and I struggled a lot with the re-feeding after as I had some sort of subconscious mentality of needing to replace the food that I had lost. I know this was the darkness trying to derail me and undo all that was accomplished. I am currently praying to conceive and for my marriage to grow and blossom and be pleasing to God. Having prayed the 4 rosaries for the last 2 days my life has already started to change, my life inside myself and how I behave outside as well. I now feel joy and am able to let many things pass and release grudges that I would have previously kept in my heart. Thank God for the wonderful rosary and the gift of the miracle of the Mother of God as she intercedes for us.

Ever since the Plandemic began, I also began reducing the amount of food I was consuming. I can go several days with 1 meal a day, and sometimes, like on weekends I do 2 meals a day, no longer do I do 3 meals day. I guess I have been doing the Benedict option when it comes to meals, and now that my Brother is giving me room to cook my own meals, I can now do what I need to do. During the entire Plandemic, I have been inadvertently preparing for the day I was able to go to confession and recieve Jesus in Holy Communion...this happened last week, and today, 27th week in Ordinary Time, I was able to go to Mass...might not be so lucky next Sunday. But now, I will have better foundation for prayer and fasting.

I am mind blown 🤯. I am praying fervently for the conversion of someone I love and recently I heard the voice of God tell me in order to obtain the conversion, I have to pray the Rosary every day and fast. But I didn’t know how to fast. And then today this video appears in my recommended. Until watching this video, I didn’t know fasting helps obtain favors from God. But now I’m on board, thank you Gabi!

GOD bless you Gabi! Very inspirational video. Especially in these dark end times of the world when we incline to fasting, things what we see at this particular time will change. We will break each storm. Fasting helps us to examine ourselves in depth how far in each day we are going out of the love of God and his commandments. When we fervently fast we will hear the inner voice of our GOD. Our Almighty JESUS CHRIST please change our solid heart so that we be humble and respectful to your will.

So many people do not understand Catholic fasting and/or abstinence. That's why I studied it for over 4 years (and counting) and wrote "The Definitive Guide to Catholic Fasting and Abstinence." If anyone wants THE book on Catholic fasting, please seek it out. Fasting: Fasting refers to how much food we eat. It means taking only one meal during a calendar day. The meal should be an average-sized meal as overeating at the one meal is against the spirit of the fast. Fasting generally means that the meal is to be taken later in the day. Along with the one meal, up to two snacks (technically called either a collation or frustulum) are permitted. These are optional, not required. Added up together, they may not equal the size of the one meal. No other snacking throughout the day is permitted. Fasting does not affect liquids, aside from the Eucharistic Fast which is a separate matter. Abstinence: Abstinence in this context refers to not eating meat. Meat refers to the fleshmeat of mammals or fowl. Beef, poultry, lamb, etc are all forbidden on days of abstinence. Abstinence does not currently prohibit animal byproducts like dairy (e.g. cheese, butter, milk) or eggs, but in times past they were prohibited. Fish is permitted along with shellfish and other cold-blooded animals like alligators. In times past, days of fast were always days of abstinence as well; however, not all days of abstinence were days of mandatory fasting.

Yes, because when you leave Lent, I have never wanted to just dive into holiday food. It doesn’t feel good to be on this 40 day minimalist journey, and then on Sunday or a feast day, roll of the wagon. And, at work, we had to change the way we rewarded ourselves. As preschool teachers we would by those doughnuts and sweets for each other, but we started to rethink our choices, now we by oranges, flavored water, and skinny pop❤ We feel much better 💕

I am starting to get very good at fasting now. I just make sure that I eat healthy food before I go into anything more then 24hrs. Dont drink too much water without adequate electrolytes, in fact I dont drink that much at all. BUT I dont fast past 3 days. Refeed slowly and then you can fast again. Respect the body, its the only one you have.

This is great! Thank you! Just a quick note: I’m a fertility care practitioner, and the recent most studies suggest that girls and women of childbearing age should not skip breakfast and definitely not have coffee on an empty stomach. It’s killer on the adrenals and hormones. The studies promote women having at least 3 meals with fat, protein, and carbs everyday. However! That’s not to say we shouldn’t also fast - there is a long tradition in the Church of God asking the faithful to do things that aren’t *necessarily* going to be *good* for the body, but they will certainly be fruitful spiritually and therefore have enormous merit (thinking of the desert fathers, the martyrs, etc. who were asked by God for specific mortifications for the salvation of souls, who obeyed graciously!) So I would just humbly suggest the addition of proper discernment in these cases, with a spiritual director, to be sure one is not adhering to a fasting regimen solely because it is common or because it is what one’s husband is doing. In any case I was inspired by this teaching and feel very much called to grow in my obedience to our Lord’s call to fast!

To help me through it, I make sure I pray the rosary throughout the day and as Gaby said, I tie my fast to a special, dearest to my heart type of intention. Father I have actually not been fasting. I allow my sense of taste and am councous if my stomach agrees with what I eat. I try to to eat fresh and quick. And I eat in bursts. I have found that I avoid overeating and attachment to food in doing this. I skip the sweet stuff and it has really been helping me. I did it by obeying my superiors my Mom, Dad, and Deacons. I just wanted to throw this out there, because there are extraordinary circumstances where one shouldn't fast, and I feel like I was supposed to post this. God bless you sir!
