In this video I travel to Austin, TX for MotoGP. The day after the race we did a track day on Circuit Of The Americas (COTA). I was able to take my Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 and BMW M1000rr on the track and compare the differences between the two. I also go the opportunity to ride with a MotoGP rider (Miguel Olivera) which was fun.

And no disrespect to you or anyone else out there, but the INSANE difference in speed and skill between an enthusiast and a pro, is absolutely mind blowing. Of course that's expected with the kind of money they get paid, but to see it like that, was just insane. Not only was he able to pass at those speeds, smooth as hell, he was able to do it while keeping everyone else safe. I'm more of an FQ20 fan myself, but hats off to Miguel.

Neither reasons mentioned is the reality of the matter !!! In today's world and level of logical thinking withheld, It's about being BIG DICK WILLY!!! AKA:IMAGE OUT LOOK, using properly sized bike to level of skills had is irrelevant, honestly how would the image look in a world were brand/size bike you ride determines your level of respect to be had , lol and what level would that be riding a bike sized to your skill level (zx400 in this example) on a moto gp track amongst other riders on 1 liters of every brand !! 3/4 of those riders are probably on bikes most likely can't use to their full potential as a result of skill level, it's not a skill to ride fast in a straight line !!! But a think it's obvious with seeing the moto gp riding amongst them on same track 😅 but can't lie Mr. D has good taste of bikes aside from the Aprilia, but as long as a smile is made on the face is all that's important, what anybody thinks is irrelevant, be safe my friend.

Have you ever considered buying slower bikes and turning them to full track bikes? I think this will help you with your lines and to go faster. A slower bike will help you learn to use the whole turn to keep that momentem in entry speed, and you wouldnt be paranoid to going full throttle in the middle of turns. I bet if you got a kaw 400cc or an R6 fully kitted suspension, tuned by a suspension tuner. I think you will have way more fun, instead of babying these exotic bikes in the turns.

Miguel is so smooth and waste no time in corners. if it was me I would try to ride with him and follow his lines. maybe setup track days with him. You will not blow so many corners. you improve your skills by watching and if you watch a motogp pro you will get better vision of the lines through the corners. best video yet..anybody can roll race with a good bike, but a good rider can race with a less than perfect bike..love the footage , very good editing

How long do you think he can stay behind him ?, Miguel would gap these guys in a matter of 2 corners they won't be able to keep up,

Ya just casually set up track days with Miguel Olivera 😂. I’m sure he lets everyone know how to contact him so they can follow him all over the planet to ride 😂

I used to live in Doha, me and other expats would ride at Losail. I thought some of the guys were good until I went to the MotoGP and realized that they took one less corner than us, they basically take turns 4 & 5 as one sweep…crazy! They are so far ahead it’s untrue, then the bike adds a little bit more but it’s 99% the rider. Great for you to be on track with those guys.

Here in the UK some guy I know went to a race school. Honda 600s. In the morning session he said he was sweating just trying to stay with the instructor. In the Afternoon it was raining. The instructor said OK guys this session we are upping the pace! Some of the guys said but it’s raining. Instructor said oh we were only wobbling around, to learn the track. Now we are going to put into practice what we learned this morning!!! Sod the rain, this is Race school.

UHMM did you get a few pointers from the GP rider? Noticed a good improvement after minute 28, hitting the hairpins and downshifting much better. Awesome!

Having fun is what it’s all about! If people don’t buy big bikes they won’t make them as we are now seeing! So keep having fun buy big bikes keep the sport relevant! Anyone dishing someone is them trying to prove there a better rider w/o being there. Kudos thanks for video! Have fun!

Dont want to be a negative andy, but you claiming a bike is not as good while using 20% if its capabilities is wild, you should realy get a riding coach if you want to do trackdays, you will learn so much, youre so tense on the bike and it all translates into the bars. Get a coach to maximise the improvement and fun on trackdays.

Everybody goes fast down the straights, motogp riders go fast around the entire track. Corner speed is everything.

not really corner speed while it matters its much more on later braking and faster acceleration out of the corner that's what makes most of the difference
