Travelling to Boppard Germany 20th of July 2023 from England , why did I choose Boppard for my holiday because there's a Fastned nearby.

It's a pitty the 43kW "ZOE" chargers are being phased out on the refurbished stations.

Maybe if a common complaint is that the charging speed is not as fast as expected, another conclusion might be to check if there is something wrong with the chargers. I would think most EV drivers know about charging curves. Coldgating, rapidgating and so on. And sometimes charging is slower than expected, whether the power of the chargers is shared or there is some other limiting factor from the chargers. I used to use the Wittstock/Dosse Fastned charger quite often when I has a project in the area and there it was always slower than expected. I was expecting 130kw and was getting only 75kw despite the ABB chargers where saying 150kw. Battery was empty and warm I know my car. I didn’t do a representative survey but I have the impression that ABB quite often underperforms while Alpitronic only when they are obviously sharing, which can also be annoying. Ionity always gets best charging speed but they seem to have a problem with reliability. Which is especially bad if there are only 4 chargers and two are broken.

The Alpitronic Hyper Chargers are currently the best in my opinion. You see them really taking a large market share at the moment. Quick and fail save communication.

@@RedBatteryHead agreed. Only problem I had with hyperchargers is that you get to a place with only one hypercharger and two outlets. One is already taken and you know when you plug in the one that is currently charging gets less and you won’t get best speed. That always puts you in an uncomfortable situation in my opinion. So far EV drivers seem to be very relaxed about it and it never has been a problem. Anyways this is not the hyperchargers fault it is the CPOs fault.

@@cdohm Those hyperchargers have 4 75kw modules. So if you plug a second car in, the first still has 150kw power. There are almost no cars that can keep their charging speed over 150 kw for more than the first 10 minutes, and even if both arrive at the same time, being limited to 150 kw max maybe prolongs the charge time to 80% by a minute or 2. It's clearly better design than the Ionity 350 kw chargers, with only 4 stalls and 1 probably defect.

@@Psi-Storm that is max. There are many out there with only 2x75kw modules

I would say that in at least 95% of the cases it is the vehicle that is the limiting factor in achieving the maximum possible charge speed, and that there is no issue with the charger. We continuously monitor all chargers to spot slow charging since it can be an indication of underlying issues with the charger. This includes the ABB chargers at Wittstock. And contrary to what you say, many newbies do not know about charge curves, battery temperature and so on. Most of them can't even tell how far you can drive with 1 kWh so the challenge is to manage expectations set by the salesperson of the vehicle.
