@CCABPSacsach7 ай бұрын
@Dolliv5 It’s an analogy. I am deliberately highlighting the absurdity of a “debtphobic” person, and using that context in terms of Fatphobia to emphasise its ridiculousness. It is intentionally an absurd circumstance, and the fact that it doesn’t seem like a real scenario helps contribute to the overarching theme of the term “Fatphobia” being a baffling concept. Hope this helps, no hostility intended

the original idea of “fat” acceptance was for people who were a little bit chubby, plus size maybe to not feel bad about having a HEALTHY body because there’s nothing wrong with being chubby and having a round belly, but the world used to (and kinda still does) make that seem like a big problem, causing perfectly healthy people to feel bad about themselves. But making dangerous levels of obesity “ok” because you have a hard time being healthy isn’t ok. Like most ideas in the world.. this one got turned into something it wasn’t originally ment to be.

When I was 230 ilbs I couldn’t touch my toes, I couldn’t go on a jog, I could barely even go on walks because I’d be sweating so bad I’d get mad. And that’s another thing. I was angry ALL the time. And I thought I was entitled to basically anything and everything. I complained constantly and was in pain ALL the time. @elmopreparestocommitarson7 ай бұрын
Actually statistics prove poverty actually causes obesity because the affordable food is calorie dense but lacks nutritional value so people in poverty need to eat more to get what their body needs. People are too quick to jump to conclusions instead of actually researching the topic so it causes harmful misinformation to spread. What’s happening in the fat acceptance movement currently is an example of this. Especially when we also have to consider the psychology behind those people. And a shocking hypothesis that psychologists are thinking about is the frequent shaming and mocking of the previous generations that were overweight not only triggered eating disorders and trauma but also taught them to respond with the same socialisation they experienced but twisting the roles. I mean if you look at the stuff fat acceptance extremists say but flip the roles where is skinny people saying it to fat people you’ll see it’s actually really similar to bullying fat people experience. It’s kinda funny how it’s acceptable for fat people to experience this but when it’s skinny people it’s suddenly “humanity’s doomed” like many in the comments are saying. At the end of the day it’s not really about being lazy or greedy but it’s a symptom of any different conditions or situations.

what sucks too is that the orginal purpose of the “Body Positivity” was for people who literally cannot get rid of certiain fat or body shapes that wont go under a certain weight. Im very healthy, and fairly regularly excerize and have for 3 years. I cannot get under 180 lb. And even when i did i felt awful and sick 🤷
@DaakkuuYRS7 ай бұрын
180 ibs it is not even that bad. It is more on the chubby side at least. Not even close to the really bad weights. At least you are trying and working hard; a thing that those "fat influecers" can't say about themselves.
@spdfatomicstructure6 ай бұрын
@@DaakkuuYRSyou’d literally need to be 6ft to ensure that a weight like that doesn’t put you at risk, unless of course you have lots of bone and muscle from an intensely active lifestyle. I’ve done the conversions myself. 180lb = 81kg (approx). Square root it (9), divide by 5 to get the height in metres (1.8), then divide by 0.3

Im a fat guy, and people just accepting it that its good is the fucking stupidest thing ive ever heard. I hate being fat. But it is what it is for now. I go to the gym and im trying my best to loose this shit, but people just saying that "its okay to be fat" is fucking stupid. If your fat, try your best to change your diet and exercise, its gonna be hard as fuck but you can do it.

I was 275 at my biggest and I was absolutely miserable. Constant knee, hip and back pain, would sweat at the drop of a hat and threw my back out every 3 or 4 months. I was not liberated or happy. Building discipline and dropping my weight was the best thing I could have done for myself. I want to live a long and healthy life - I don’t want to have my mobility impaired. I don’t want to die without seeing what feats of strength, dexterity and power that I’m capable of. Never stop fighting - your life is worth it.

73 kg/160 lbs here, always been "the fat one"- and I still am. As much as I've always tried to say "I'm happy in my body", I always knew I was lying to myself. Whenever I sat down, I could feel my own fat, and it made me so uncomfortable. I would never go swimming with my friends because I felt too fat to take off my hoodie. I went walking in the woods for hours just to feel safe from people and their comments. I've never had a girl because they were always creeped out by my massive weight and my disgusting grub body. Now I'm going to the gym and trying to improve the situation, so hopefully this summer I'll be able to go on holiday with my friends and even go for a swim

Poverty. Many people rely on fast food because they work too much and get paid too little. Then there are also eating disorders which is a serious problem that the person experiencing it shouldn’t be shamed for having.

Do many people have an eating disorder though? Or are they just shorter in general with a higher body fat percentage?

Lowkey I think a lot of it is ragebait that the algorithm push because it had high engagement. I will say that I think social discrimination against fat people is real. Bullying a fat person (as with bullying anybody) is fucked up. If someone is fat they shouldn’t be seen as less human because of it. Being extremely overweight (more of them then not) is not healthy but berating someone over it won’t cause them to go to that path. And if they chose not to, then that’s their choice and they shouldn’t me made to feel as an other

The lady with the complaint about airplane seats went further. She wanted hoteliers to remodel their hotels. Widen the doors, widen the CORRIDORS, widen the lifts. Countrywide that's hundreds of millions of dollars, because she thinks that a family KFC is a light lunch. She even tried to get someone fired because they didn't push her in a wheelchair up the boarding ramp to a plane.

I think if fat acceptance meant "don't harass/torment fat people in public just for being fat" I'd be all for it. What they call "fat acceptance" is actually enabling them in the same way the pro-anorexia and pro-bulimia movements are. But it's okay to admit and acknowledge that being morbidly obese isn't healthy. I mean, I'd date a guy that weighed 800 pounds but I'd want him to lose weight so he could live longer. You can be nice and kind to fat people and treat them with human dignity and respect without lying to them like they're too fragile to handle the truth. How you deliver the message is important as well.
@elmopreparestocommitarson7 ай бұрын
Look at the bullying and harassment fat people face then look at the fat acceptance movement. It’s very clear that the fat acceptance is a response to the bullying and harassment that they faced so repeat what they were taught was normal.

As a woman who has lost 64lbs and counting, people comment on my weight and body so much more than they did when I was 218lbs. My weight loss suddenly became everyone elses business and they tell me I shouldn't lose more weight even though I'm nowhere near being underweight because I'm tall and tall girls usually look skinnier by default. It's really annoying.

The whole „fatphobic“ thing is so stupid. for example, if I were to ask any of those obese people:,,Would you like to be a starving child in Africa?“, everyone would say no. So given their own definition, they‘re „starving children“ phobic, just because they don‘t want to be like them. How does that make sense?
