Fat Biking on technical trails!? | Red, Blue, Green, & Orange Trails in the San Rafael Swell!

Riding the Red, Blue, Green, and part of Orange trails in the Temple Mountain trail system in the San Rafael Swell. Rugged moto trails that are a challenge on a mountain bike!

Red trail in both directions? You are a machine! Well done. I love to bikepack in the Swell, but this would not be a route for that!

Red Trail would definitely not be good with a loaded bike! Tons of amazing routes out there for sure!

Great video as always. Here are a few observations. The coal mine that I worked in was closed and reclaimed sometime in the 80s. To close the shafts they piled explosives in the portals and blew the portals. That trench you found with the two concrete blocks looks exactly like one of those blown portals. I wonder if that is what you found. Just a thought. Why the fatty and not the LaSal. This video made want my fatty. Come on Ari. I haven't mountain biked in San Rafael Swell for over 25 years. I need to get back there. You ought to feature your wife more. She's a good rider. Even if she is on an e-bike, hanging with you in that terrain is no mean feat. You two are lucky to be able to do this together.

It's possible it could have been a coal mine... The La Sal would have been great on the tech but would have struggled bad in the sand and loose dirt out there. Overall the fat bike does great when the conditions are that varied. Yes my wife is a very good rider! She doesn't want to be in the videos though 😊

Nice stuff! Obviously some of these trails are old roads but do you know the origins of the single track?

The singletracks are BLM-approved dirt bike trails that were built and maintained by a group called the Sage Riders I believe.

No she's just obsessed with keeping track of the humans. She's kinda crazy but has so much fun!
