Fat Burrito Made with Love and in East L.A.

East L.A., what is it known for? Primarily good Mexican food. Sure, this one is a 'hole in the wall' spot, but Gerson and Celia Montes have been at this restaurant for 31 years. They know what they are doing.
It's not a fancy place but the atmosphere is friendly and the food tastes homemade, like your abuelita cooked for you. The prices are reasonable and at times the breakfast burritos are ready to go.
They open early, 5:30am through 4pm on Tues-Sat. If you know what you want, call ahead! 4505 Floral Drive, Los Angeles CA 90022
This is how Mexican rice should be: flavorful and fluffy, and refried beans: tasty and filling. Try it out for yourself. They include their handmade sauces: red and green. These run pretty spicey, but are just right to give the tacos or burritos the punch that they need! Also the beans are good, half smashed, half full and I believe they taste the old fashioned way because of lard. (Do the research, lard is not as harmful as thought. In moderation, of course.)

I have passed this place dozens of times and I finally stopped to try. Honestly it was because a famous Mexican food stand was closed near by. I was so disappointed that I wanted to satisfy my "Burrito fix." That's when I stopped here on the way home.

Thanks, but in reality they look much better. I cut them in half to show the ingredients, (and it's doesn't look as appetizing that way) but the smell and actual looks are yummy. I hope someday you can try the place.

Got a place similar here called big burritos. It’s to expensive though. They charge like 18 for a burrito, 6 for the tacos, and the tacos are small.

I've eaten there a few times myself. It's old fashioned refried beans (I think made with lard) that is tasty. A lot of it is old style. The carnitas is good, take it from an expert (my brother.) and I like getting the breakfast burrito with chorizo and beans. I don't know how to make that like the abuelas do. Take a chance if you are nearby. Even their cheeseburgers and fries are pretty good.

Rice in a burrito is just cheap filler. I'm over 60 and remember back in the day no one put rice in burritos. As best as I can tell I started seeing rice in burritos probably in my 30s. It's bogus.

I appreciate your opinion, I don't think it was in the breakfast burritos, but included in the regular burritos. I'd ask them to skip the rice, and the beans are a complement with their old fashioned style.
