I have seen many of Dr Westman YT videos and he explains Keto in the real world well. This video is very interesting as it gets back to the basics and reinforces the success people have with Keto. Thank you for this video. One further comment the frequency of the advertisements in this video are ridiculous and cause a distraction within the video. Hope the further comment helps.

I'm all in on this, plenty of good fats are to be encouraged. I'm starting to notice, after almost two years IF and no sugar/low grain, I'm starting to naturally decrease the amount of fats I eat. I'm eating all the same high fat foods, just not say, adding as much extra olive oil just for the fat.

I started keto 2 weeks ago, I didn't know how it will affect my type 2 diabetes and on my birthday my sugar levels when down and I got so scared. I went to my doctor and my labs showed that my A1C number went down from 8.7 to 6.7. I was taking metformin 2000 daily plus glipizide 20 mg daily. Now I'm taking 1000 daily and keep going on the diet. I'm a little reluctant about the fat intake, but I try to do it as clean as possible. I have lost 6 pounds.
@jimlofts54332 жыл бұрын
be careful of glipizide (ask Doctor) I am now insulin dependant as glipizide stimulates the pancreas 24 hours a day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year and after about 5-7 years the pancreas has nothing left to give so you are then on insulin needles - get off it as quick as you can - again see your doctor for proper advice or on the internet haha - the real problem is insulin resistance / metabolic syndrome or as Dr KenDberry says carbohydrate toxicity syndrome

I know for a fact that if you are diagnosed with coronary artery disease, the Mayo Clinic will recommend the 'Mediterranean Diet', which is high in whole grains - glucose - and fruits - fructose. In other words, a high sugar diet, which is what gets you heart disease in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting point triglycerides but what about the possibility of increase of your LDL’s. And given a low carb intake and increased fat (real).. how then do you tell your physician that’s it’s ok. So the question come in does fat increase ldl and how much would or could increase those levels.
@AdaptYourLife4 жыл бұрын
Luke F in the context of a Keto diet where triglycerides are low and HDL ratio is preferable, we are not worried about LDL
@isabellelee26584 жыл бұрын
My ldl went up a lot. My trigs went to 77, and hdl to 65. It was scary to me. My doctor wants me to use statins but I am not going to take them. Trig over Hdl ratio is a much better indication of heart attack risk. I did go to a cardiologist for a sonogram and a stress test but all results were good.

Dear Dr. Westman, My diabetes has reversed after more than an year an keto diet. But my hypertension did not change at all. I want to reduce my weight now. As I am fat adapted, how much fat do I need to take to maintain ketosis and loose some weight? Will you please take time to answer me at your earliest convenience? Thank you.

@mkeyw22264 жыл бұрын
Venkata Ponnaganti: Hi the fat only suppresses your appetite and keeps insulin low I believe. Fat should help you go longer between meals. Keeping the carbs low, and no sugar, will keep Ketosis! Keep it simple, low carb, prepare meals with fatty meats. If your still hungry between meals then added fat to meal like cooking with duck fat, but only enough to suppress the appetite is Key.

If a person is fat, how much fat do we eat to lose fat? Won't our bodies burn the fat we are eating before it uses the stored body fat?
@AdaptYourLife4 жыл бұрын
Craig Luhr what we want is our bodies to burn the fat on our bodies and not the fat we are eating. It’s best to limit the nutritional fat to what is naturally found in your food, and not add to it.
