-----------------------
Fat Joe spoke to VladTV about moving to Miami after Cam'ron dissed Nas, explaining that he had enough of the disrespect between New York rappers. Joe pointed out that things changed between New Yorkers when big money contracts were being offered, adding that everyone "rushed to be an asshole."
During the conversation, Fat Joe spoke about urging DJ Khaled to keep his publishing for "All I Do Is Win," which didn't end up happening, and he added that he tells Khaled that he can't come around now unless he brings his son Asahd. To hear more, hit the above clip.

New York rappers used to always diss each other, I really think the increase in level of disrespect began with 50 Cent. He really broke down the unity in NY and had a lot of artist not wanting to collaborate with certain artists for fear of him catching feelings and retaliating. Couple that with NY's decline in popularity around that time...

I was born and raised in Bklyn NY and was around during the height of NY hip hop in the 90's. There was a lot of unity and also a lot of competition. The competition really started when Biggie started calling himself the king of New York. Then when Jay-Z came along not to many other rappers liked him. They all felt that Jay was corny accept Biggie. Nas, Raekwon, Method Man, DMX and few others were really respected for their skills on the mic. Jay manage to climb to the top because of his work ethic and consistency.

I don't think people really understand the importance of owning your masters & publishing. If you own those and make good music with good amount of people listening to your music/watching your videos on different platforms, doing shows, collaborating with other artists to get more exposure, owning your own label and even getting a hit record or two will keep you wealthy forever. You don't need a record label in 2018 unless its for a distribution deal and its worked in your favor so you're still making good profits. Sir Mix A Lot has made over $100 million dollars off of the one song Baby Got Back alone because he owned his Masters and Publishing

NY hip hop fell off because the gatekeepers, Jay and Diddy, refused to put on local talent and make stars out of them. They instead used them as street cred or muscle. Baby, Master P, Trick Daddy, Scarface, T.I., Ludacris, Rick Ross, Lil Jon, Jeezy, Gucci and Yo Gotti all put on other people from their cities or someone who was on the come up. Most of them then did their best to make sure their artist succeeds and taught them to repeat the process.

Battle rap is the essence of hip hop. The disconnect happened when dudes started taking that ish serious. After true battle rap contests, the rappers show respect afterwards. The big labels drove that beef real hard and had their artists saying stuff you just aren't supposed to say. That's what he was saying about Cam'ron. Everybody knew he wasn't about that life he was rapping. He got some real live goons to hang out with him and that's when he started talking reckless

While lack of unity is one of the reasons East coast fell off I think when battle rap blew up, that helped destroy mainstream East Coast rap because before Smack and K-Dot got big, rappers from the East coast would battle , but they also focused on learning how to make songs and getting a deal because battle rap wasn't really paying back in the day but now a rapper can make a career out of battling and I think that took a lot of the East Coast's spitters focus away from learning how to make songs because they didn't have to learn anymore because battle rapping became big. Labels also had a hand in it too, only focusing on southern rappers

Almost all of the Hottest NY rappers from the 80's 90's early 2000's started out battling that's how they got their names out there but when they got discovered by producers, A&R's etc, those people knew that while the rappers could spit, they would have to learn how to make songs Biggie was a dope ass battle rapper, but Diddy showed how to make a hit.

My kids never cried as babies either. They were always happy and smiling. If a baby is crying it's because they have a need for something. That's their way of communicating, don't ignore them please. They are at our mercy, figure out what they need. We're not rich either. They were rich with love.

We need another Fat Joe and Eminem collaboration. Speaking of which, why is it that rappers who have been around for a long time and respect one another don't make collaborations happen that often, if at all. I have some examples in mind, and if anyone is curious I can list them.

DJ Khaled I respect that dude. Started in Miami on the Underground radio station 96.1 back in the late 90s. I live in Fort Lauderdale we used to have to drive like 15 minutes south on the highway to Miami just to pick up the underground radio station. He was killing it. Then 99 Jamz pick them up gave him a real job. It was over then he took over everything

Why are people talking about Jay-Z signing Nas? Nowhere in this video did Joe talk about Jay and Nas. Jay had nothing to do with Nas's deal at DefJam. Nas said on multiple occasions that LA Reid was responsible for him coming to DefJam.
@Pyrisy
@Pyrisy 5 жыл бұрын
Im So Focused they only care about perception. You cant talk real things to them. La Reid is Jay-Z boss at that time but they dont wanna see it that way because they dont know or care about La Reid and Jay-Z was the “President” they dont know anything about corporate structures. Its just easy to say Jay signed Nas.
