I know the truth of this all too well. My mother got gastric bypass and hated every second of every day and was doing so around the time this episode aired. She is now 150 heavier than she was prior. She couldn't stick to a diet to save her life. the only thing that worked was the one that made her suffer.

@thisismyyoutubecommentacco63023 жыл бұрын
Had a couple friends spend roughly five years out in Hollywood trying to "make" it about 15 years ago, what they told me was that there's a whole sub-category of "niche actors" who know they can only play specific types like "fat people" for example. They only go to the casting calls that need that type and the rest of the time they work some other job, usually something with flexible hours so they can take a few days off for a shoot if necessary. Basically as long as the casting agent puts out the call for that type in advance they will have a room full of willing candidates almost assuredly.

Something they would absolutely ask about very early on in real life is how much she drinks. Nerve damage (alcoholic peripheral neuropathy) is common in long term alcoholics. It's what screwed my legs up. It's improved since the point where I quit because I was in a wheelchair with it, but it's still permanent and means I have to use a cane... At 32. She is right. She is a hypocrite, but despite that she does encourage her clients to live better lives. Sure, she lies about her own transformation, but that doesn't mean the people who follow her program won't get fitter and healthier. Not only did she get healthier and happier after the stomach surgery, she also made other people healthier and happier. Win-win for me.
@tambow133 жыл бұрын
in my eyes its totally wrong, she's making money from her lies while she got healthy by getting a gastric band....yeah she's helping people get healthy but the fact she's making money off of it because they believed she got healthy all by exercise and diet is fraud in my eyes.
@thewodnisty23 жыл бұрын
@@tambow13 If I remember correctly she sells her dvds with training videos and motivation together with "her story" - in that case, yes, she is a fraud. She is a fraud, she is a hypocrite and the world is a better place because of her. It is not black or white. She isn't lying about the efficacy of her exercises, she is telling the truth. The world is not a fair place. She did something wrong, she cheated and she is still the good guy, she still does good deeds.
@thisismyyoutubecommentacco63023 жыл бұрын
@@thewodnisty2 I think the bigger issue is the exploitation for monetary gain. If she didn't tell people she got the surgery, and that her slim figure was due to diet and exercise then ok fine, we all tell lies all the time to stranger and even friends to keep things hidden about ourselves. It's the fact that she's selling a fraudulent story for monetary gain that is the issue. It's kind of like stolen valor. For example there is no law that says you can't dress up in a military uniform of a service you didn't serve in, medals and everything. As distasteful as it is, it's legal. What actually crosses the legal line is when you use that fraud for monetary or political gains.
@tambow133 жыл бұрын
@@thewodnisty2 give them away if you want to do a good deed. she's happy cuz she's got thin by taking an easier surgical route, she's able to make money by selling her attractive body working out on a video. it'd be like getting a training video of a guy with massive muscle telling you how to get that body by following the video....but secretly he uses steroids, I couldn't possibly consider that a good deed when you are essentially making a profit from BS
@thewodnisty23 жыл бұрын
@@tambow13 A good deed doesn't have to be selfless. Yes, she lied. But her workout videos will get people to lose weight and be healthier. Your example is wrong. A person who doesn't use steroids will never get such huge muscles as the guy using steroids. However, the woman doesn't have some magical fat burning technique. She lost weight by the reduction of her calorie intake. Yes, she had it much easier. But if her clients follow her instructions they will get as fit as she is. They will have it harder, but it it achievable and possible. Pretty much for the most of them. That is not the case of muscle growth from steroids. It's a business. Shie lied, she is a hypocrite. She offers people a training program to get fit and lose weight, and she delivers on that promise.

@lawrencefosterjenkins82162 жыл бұрын
Thing is, gastric surgery alone won’t help someone lose the weight- it takes meeting an initial weight loss goal to even qualify for it, and after the procedure you still have to abide by post-surgery rules regarding portion size (or else you can re-stretch the stomach), as well as exercise and nutrition to take the rest of the weight off. She lied about her means of success because she wanted to come across as inspirational to be more marketable, but if this weren’t a show, she could probably still have that same influence being transparent about her surgery.
