We have those in the states too, though here the most common flavors are prune, raspberry, lemon, and I forget the other one...we eat them on Fat Tuesday though, the day before Ash Wednesday, not almost a week before.

I like the way polish sounds but as a spanish speaker, which is a quite simple language when it comes to pronounciation, the latter seems to me as nearly impossible to get it right :(
