I think Yuu taking away Rei's tattoos was him taking away her guilt. She wouldnt be the one to blame anymore because Yuu forgave her, and so she has no business being in the manor.

This is the most touching ending because Yuu loved Rei so much that he made her understand why she needs to keep living. Also it wasn't Rei's fault that Yuu died, it was an accident ... and i guess she was the only one that truly understood this. Miku on the other hand, sadly survived this but the FF5 story fucked her ending and even with this ending she still searches for Mafuyu after FF3. That being said Mayu and Mafuyu are both assholes and they were very very selfish , they choose death after their respective relatives went through HELL in order to get them back, that's why i prefer this game and it's ending, cause at least it shows Yuu caring for Rei , unlike Mafuyu choosing a death ghost over her sister and Mayu being a stupid selfish bitch not caring what Mio would feel after.

I disagree about Mayu. She not only saved Mio, but released the village of its curse and allowed the souls trapped within it to finally move on from that night. I wouldn't call that selfish.

With Mayu the XBox version made it a bit more weird, but Mayu is not at fault, as she was very heavily possessed.

Both twin sisters were possessed by yae and sae when they did the ceremony. We can't blame them. On the other hand, Mafuyu never really eased the pain Miku felt after he left. I always feel bad for Miku. Hoping she get the happiness she deserves with her child. 🙁

Mafuyu was willing to stay behind and bid his sister farewell, Rei was careless and accidentally killed her fiance but Mio had to MURDER her own flesh and blood, Mio definitely takes the cake.

During the credits there are photos of what happened afterwards and thats what makes this the good ending. The normal ending is the same but without those photos. The photos change the story in that Kei and Mio survive.

Miku blames herself for leaving Mafuyu at Himuro. And Rei blames herself for Yuu dying from her reckless driving. Yoshino survived while her family and relatives died in the crash. They all enter the Manor of Sleep when they feel that they're not really supposed to be alive and want to join the ones that have died in their place. Except Kei who wanted to help Mio who is still alive.

@miley491 Yes. That is why Mio ends up in the Manor of Sleep in this game. She feels guilty for survivng while Mayu died. I believe this will all be alot clearer when the Fatal Frame 2 Remake is released on the Wii U soon.

Despite that there's no word whether this ending's canon or not, i pretty much like to think that this is the canon one. It's too heartbreaking thinking that Mio did not survive the ordeal after playing FF2 and got severely attached to her. She's my Favourite character.

Hugo Sit it would be better if EVERYONE was allowed to play it...that way everyone can enjoy it...just share it across both consoles; Sony had it originally and Nintendo have it now...why can't they both have versions of every FF game IMO. it isn't like they haven't done that with other games...the Japanese are just selfish.

You definatly can! I had a big fight with my mom, and never apologized. Two days later, she died. Just watching this made me tear up like crazy, because unlike me, Rei got to apologize to Yuu, and speak to him one last time. I know it sounds crazy, but if I gotta fight ghosts and get cursed just to see her again one more time, I'D DO IT! I'd do anything to say sorry. ;(

@11newells If you look at the "Sad" Ending It will only give you a picture of miku and rei watching the sunset but in this one it gives you what happends like. Rei giving miku a hug cause she's alive. And kei waking up and seeing the sun come in. Rei and miku in the kitchen i guess. Kei and mio together it's just stuff that happend after rei saved the day.

The credits shows pics of Rei, Kei, Miku and yeah, Mio. It does use the same timeline because she is Kei's niece. FF2, she got spirited away to the old All Gods Village but returned to the correct time after the village was restored. Now she enters the dream because she blames herself for leaving Mayu there.

She's Kei's niece who got lost in the Nightmare, following Mayu and the crimson butterflies. Kei searches his dream for Mio, to save her from losing herself in her Nightmare forever, by following the dead, Mayu.

You know that part where Kei pushes the dresser out of the door's way in the 2nd floor stairs hallway? Then you can walk on the roof of the 2nd floor? Well, you just need to do that earlier in the game, and then near the end, go to the Kimono room and use the key to open the dresser and get the picture of Akito(looks like Kei) then just finish the game as normal. You'll know you did it right if, after Kei "dies" normally there's soot on the couch, but now he should still be there.

when she flies, go quickly near from where she flied. then target her, when tha camera is starting to charge up, use the slow lens and don't let her to hit you use the R3 button to walk slowly while she's attaking. when she pass through, use the strongest film and lens to get a fatal frame shut.

heres what i think: the curse isnt just one curse for multiple people, its one that spreads causing multiple, individual curses, in other words, the tattoos. when rei sent reika to the other side, it lifted the curse surrounding reika, putting her to rest. the curse was lifted because of the tattoos she brought to the other side. then, in order to lift reis curse, yuu had to take her tattoos to the other side. now im wondering, did mafuyu and mayu do the same for miku, mio, and kei?

Thats a good idea. It would work, but I guess nobody wants to use Slow because it uses some spirit power, and everyone saves it for Crush. But if that draws out more health, it might be a better way to fight.

its easy to shot when reika was flying just level up the sensitivity of the cam so you can move the camera very quickly. And target her heads not her umbrella. This shot will hit very high damage. unlike shutter chance.

I dont think its possible to charge the camera in time. When she flies up, it only gives like 2 seconds to charge before she attacks. And that's not enough to fully charge Rei's cam. The shutter chance gives a longer wait than the flying.

I never did hug her or tell her that I loved her when going to school for the last time. I regret everything ive dont to hurt and wish I could go to her and say I love her and sorry and give her that last hug. I would go through a great deal of trouble just to do that. Thats a great question I dont know the real answer to. My opinion would be that the Manor of Sleep still exists, but exists only in the conscience of people. People used to go to the priestess and offer up their pain. My guess is that in the manor, the Kuze shrine exists, and any building around it is from those feeling guilt or offering pain to a priestess. In FF3, we are seeing Reika's version of the manor. So since Reika is gone, there is no priestess so no manor should exist. But...

Exactly. But I suppose with the Fatal Frame series, a happy ending would make you feel as tho it were an adventure game that had one sweet ending. But a sad ending keeps that feeling of dread even after you've finished it.

well, the whole series is surrounded in sorrow and pain, so, I think this was a pretty good ending. I mean, it's not the sappy cheesy happy endings from the Xbox versions, but one where the essence of the game is kept. I mean, the three heroines are alive in the end, no? X3 and they finally understand why they survived when their loved ones had to sacrifice themselves.

Well, you get the normal ending and the good ending. This game takes the normal ending. Same with FF2. It took the ending where Mio kills Mayu. I agree it is kinda sad, but then a horror game should make you jump for joy (unless its the PS3 announcement of Fatal Frame 4).

Heheh, you're testing my memory, but I think it was all about that little bookshelf on the 2F stairs hallway. You have to eventually push it out of the way, but for the good ending you push it out much sooner. i think it was the 1st or 2nd time you play as Kei. Then go across to the room, collect those items, fight that ghost thats brushing her hair, and you get a key to her dresser, where you find a photo of akito, the kei look-alike. Thats it I think.

I think Yuu is encouraging Rei to stay alive, hoping she doesnt follow. So he's saying that he will remain in her heart and her memories until she dies, then he will be gone completely. I dont know about afterlife but this is the way I always took the ending. I hope someone can explain it better to us.

but slow lens use only 1 spirit power and theres an another 4 spirit power for crush lens. crush lens is used minimmum of 4 spirit power. so think it twice! the only thing you use lens in this final fight is slow, crush and serial lenses. and the one important of slow lens is to get enough time to get a shutter chance or a fatal frame shut.

Yea, almost impossible, but not impossible. Keep the Crush Lens ready and use it with your strongest film when your cam is fully charged like when Reika walks towards you. Fill spirit power with a weaker film. Dont try for her Fatal Frame when she's flying. Dont miss a single shot if your film is low.

Yeah. You pretty much just push the bookshelf out of the way and go through the door on the 2nd floor stairs hallway earlier in the game than you normally would. Fight that ghost(Kyouka Kuze) a few times like you said, and then receive the photo of Akito who looks awfully similar to Kei, then continue the rest of the game as normal.

Or do you mean they literally live on until memories of them disappear? The interesting part is that the person may be dead, with no memories, thoughts, feelings, but stay alive in the memories of loved ones.
