On November 22, 1971, a twin-engine Aero Commander 560A, (Reg. No. N87K), took off from Chatham, Massachusetts, bound for Newark, New Jersey. The plane carried a pilot, co-pilot, and four passengers.
As the flight was passing over Rhode Island it encountered sleet, a low cloud ceiling, and icing conditions on the wings. Ground fog was also present. When one of the engines began to run erratically, the pilot radioed T. F. Green Airport in Warwick, R. I., and requested landing instructions. As the flight was headed toward Green, the aircraft went down in a thickly-wooded swampy area off South Road in East Greenwich.
The distressed aircraft was witnessed by a local resident who immediately notified authorities. When rescue workers reached the scene they had to extricate the injured from the fuselage. All were transported to Kent County Hospital where one 59-year-old woman passenger succumbed to her injuries.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What may seem an eyesore to one person, just might be a beautiful masterpiece to another. There are places beloved by communities and protected in the hearts of those that hold their memories of its tattered hallways and decayed rooms dear. This is the way that we feel when we explore places that have been forgotten by time. Left to rot and decay and only holding the silent whispers of what once was. We know that there are people out there with malicious intent toward these places that we venture into. It saddens us when we see the filth and destruction they leave behind, but we want to make something very clear… We are explorers and lovers of history. We in no way, shape or form condone the criminal activities that take place in the historical decaying places that we document. Social media has brought many of these places to the limelight, but the intention is to show the beauty and mystery of abandonment. Not to invite trouble. Trouble will find its way on its own and to say that the peaceful documentation of these places leads to criminal activity, is mind blowing. We have met so many amazing fellow explorers in our travels and are so thankful and humbled by the positive responses we have received. We know that this type of exploration is not for everyone…many people don’t understand why we find such beauty in decay, we can only explain it as a beautiful journey into the past. We invite you to watch our explores and come along as we visit these amazing places. As for the criminal activity that occurs, those individuals are responsible for their own actions. It is a terrible part of our society, but reality, nonetheless. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for loving this location just as much as we do. We hope that through this video, the memories held within will remain.

Wow! I didn’t think it looked like it had been sitting out in the wooded swamp for over 50 years! Although badly mangled, it’s condition is remarkably good considering. It’s hard to imagine anyone survived that crash, especially up the front where the pilot and co pilot would sit. Thanks Jen and Marcel, especially Jen of taking one for the team and falling in that freezing water! Brrr 🥶 😎👍

It’s so true!! We were blown away at how intact everything was. We know that the two pilots survived, which is amazing considering the damage to the front. That little slip up was just the beginning… unfortunately, I ended up to my knees in swamp😳😳. It was cold, but worth it! Although it is surrounded by sadness, the hike in was nice and we enjoyed this explore very much Thank you so much for coming along with us!!!

Yeah we did get a little wet....Jen more than Marcel! lol It was a trek to get out there but well worth the trip! It's crazy that it doesn't even look that weathered more than 50 years later!

Wow! What a cool find! It's crazy that it's been left there this whole time! That swamp water must have been freezing! RIP to the person that passed away.

Wow Guys! In getting a good view of this wreckage, I'm surprised there were any survivors. I can't imagine the difficulty that the rescuers faced. They crashed into a very challenging area for EMS. Thanks for this very difficult explore Guys!!❤❤

Woww ... Plane crashes are always devastating and this mangled mess is no exception. Sooo sad 😢. Reminds me of the plane crash at the New Bedford airport I did research on last year but no access to the crash site since it's on protected airport grounds. 🥺

I honestly cannot believe that it is still there. It's so sad that people lost their lives there. But I hope it doesn't come off in a more bit way but it would be a great place to do an EVP. So if they haven't crossed on. Maybe someone can help.
