I would actually argue that.. all of the outdoor channels I watch put a lot of effort into the videos they make.. I enjoy watching everyone! I definitely love his aerial shots from the top of the mountains he climbs.

@@xcalibertrekker6693 No. Those era of planes were built as fast and cheap as they were not expected to last long in wartime. The airplane is simply in good shape still because its made out of aluminum. Aluminum essentially lasts forever as it forms its own oxidation layer over itself, which protects it from corrosion. It has nothing to do with "old timey quality".

There are a terrifying number of planes that have never been found! I’ve been mind blown reading about how many planes have gone missing local to me and were never found (Newfoundland Canada) Mostly from the 50s/60s.

It’s crazy to think there is wild land out there no person has been near in ages, possibly never. The C54 must have flown way off course, but that it’s never been discovered, even by accident is amazing.

Hey my friend! Th8s sure brought back memories. I'm 72, I spent many years traveling in a 56 GMC long panel van. My companion was Cinnamon, a fenale 120 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback dog. We would do what you did. Drive in, then hike in deeper. You will live the rest of your life remembering your pup bouncing around. You treat Rocco very well and he is always watching out for you. They did have high altitude low temp flight suits and jackets, although SOP is not to shelter in an aircraft as a last resort. Surrounded by metal the cold is all around you by wind chill. A snow cave would be much warmer. You should check out "Survival in the Andes" about the soccer team that crashed. The one you want is written by the man who walked out and saved them. Most inspiring book I've read from a non-military situation. Peace

I was thinking the same thing. A lot of KZbinrs make interesting or fun videos, but Foresty is on another level with the camera and drone shots along with the editing and music. Somehow makes me appreciate the beauty and stillness of nature outside the small hectic bubbles we live in. He's doing more than just talking into a camera, more along the lines of creating art.

C-47 aka DC-3 or Dakota is my favorite Aircraft. I had the privilege to crew the TICOBELL WW-2 survivor in Florida for several years. Your walk thru brought back memories. The Aircraft is still flying at the Valiant Air Command Titusville Florida.

Beautiful country up there. My Uncle (late) flew from India into China during WWII, and I heard a few of his stories on flying the hump. Navigation was primitive back in those days. The crews were all kids, except for pilot, who was a more seasoned 24 year old. Thanks Foresty.

Had to watch again to see what you thought were some little mistakes. I didn't really see what it was that you changed but I did get enthralled again on the beauty so wasn't paying attention to finding the differences. You do an awesome job on these so don't feel like the little mistakes you see are an issue but you do what makes you happy. This was another awesome trip. Rocko jumping like a bunny is so cute. According to Simon, this plane crashed in February = winter, expect the mountain snow absorbed major impact forces. Perhaps the plane slid uphill, partially buried.

@clarkleakins879 sure, but did he nose dive it, set it down unlevel and tear a wing off and careen down the hill sledding to their deaths, did he slam hard and high angle of attack and tear the tail off and kill everyone in the back seats, ect ect. If it was dumb luck it was quite literally the best dumb luck in the history of mankind, or he did well. I stick to he did well.

Glad to hear that you are taking more time in a gorgeous location like that to enjoy a three day camping trip and plane crash site exploration, Foresty. You travel around so much, and sometimes cover such long distances driving from one location to another, it is nice to know that, at least some of the time, you get to live life at a slower pace.

My dog of 8yrs 6 months and 6 days died this morning Foresty, I never thought that far ahead when I got him. Something made him sick or something and 2 different Vets never actually figured it our, because Anaplasma or hip dysplasia doesn't kill a dog in 15 days. It was awful, he yelped when he got out of bed or fell trying to get up. He wouldn't get up this am, I knew it was bad, I went on our walk path alone halfway, cried at the bench and came home to him rhythmic cry yelping until it was just rhythmic mouth opening and then he was gone, right in my living room on his favorite bed. It's so sad, I'm typing this alone because it's too hard to deal with coming home from work the first night in 8.5yrs and he's not here. Take lots of pics, cherish every minute and enjoy your puppers to the max. Take care.

^ So sorry to hear of your loss I've had dogs GORGEOUS Dogs & kids too - when they go the loss is unbearable I still cry & pine for my first, my gorgeous female Boxer dog we had with us 1968-1976 That time period was quite some time ago but my loss of her still pains me today On the bright side, you gave him 8.5 years of happiness - treasure those days

Adam, my heart goes out to you. We have lost a few, all naturally at home, and we still miss them. We always chose to save another, even though you can ever replace the one you lost. They are all unique and special. I hope and pray, after the healing of time, you will also give another deserving dog out there a good home as you did for your lost one. There are so many just like him that just don't get the chance. I think he would have liked that.

I lived for years out east of there, in the middle of the area they think that C-54 went down, way out in the bush. I've hiked, paddled, climbed throughout that country. It's big. You could drop an aircraft carrier into the middle of it and not find it for a hundred years.

@@robgrey6183 And it depends on how the plane hit the ground. The one shown here is very visible, it crashed relatively flat to the ground. If the C-54 came in at a sharp angle and especially into soft ground.. it would be pulverized and mostly be underground... and then possibly overgrown with grass or bushes. Probably never be found..

Very cool piece of history to feature, I had never heard of this crash! The overhead drone footage as well as your exploration inside the craft were captivating. Thanks Foresty, this is a great story! Your video inspired me to do some digging, turns out three other planes crashed searching for the Skymaster, and all the pilots survived. (that article also said there are more than 500 other wrecked planes "scattered around the Yukon"!) There is a documentary about it here on KZbin: "Skymaster Down", think I'll check it out...
