I've been on a flight that experienced sudden turbulence followed by a freefall right after takeoff. We were only about 3000ft above the ground and the whole thing lasted only about 5 seconds but the screaming and panic onboard was just overwhelming. I wonder why the press keep presenting the 6000 feet drop in a few minutes as something necessarily terrible when that is exactly what planes do when they are landing. The issue is not the "sudden" drop but that it happened when the plane was supposed to still be cruising.
@krashd
@krashd 12 күн бұрын
Yeah, the not-so-sudden drop (6000ft in 3 mins is perfectly normal) was likely the pilots dropping to a lower altitude to get out of the turbulence. I read in a newspaper the actual turbulent drop from hitting a cold pocket of air was something like 80ft, which is why everything not strapped down hit the ceiling.

The important nrssage sky news forgot to include in this report is how important it is to keep your seatbelt fastnened for the whole flight. It van be loosened off but knly take it off to get out of your seat. Its not uncomfortable to wear like that so no real need tk undo it. Guarantee all those passengers will leave their belts done up kn their next flight but be good for the world to learn the importance of keeping your belt done up when the sign goes out

@01:59 "Unable to get their seat belts back on", I wonder if these idiots use their seat belts at all times while driving a car or they wait for a truck to pull out in front of them to get strapped.

Airline crew asks for keeping seatbelt on all flight in case unexpected turbulences happen. Feel sorry for passengers and well done to the pilot who landed safely. It could have ended worse.

The 6,000 feet descent was over a few minutes, probably done to get to a smoother lower altitude after the clear air turbulence event. Planes usually descend at 2,000-2,500 feet per minute...
@leexgx
@leexgx 12 күн бұрын
6000 ft in 2 minutes is fast but more likely happened is that was experiencing extreme sudden drops in altitude in between the 6000ft the Airbus had a problem where it absolutely intercepted angle of attack sensors and directed it to the trim witch unfortunately directly manipulated the trim immediately (instead of smoothing it out or just ignoring it as implausible data and a error on maintenance computer and possibly disabling the flight director partially) one day they had a problem with multiple angle sensors that were unfortunately all reading the same incorrect information which caused the plane to immediately set the trim suddenly Max down and then back up to level again Mutiple times until they disable the trim or selected direct law mode and on that flight they had panels missing on the roof where people had hit them hard enough to break them (this flight was just blood and o2 masks deployed and one person had an heart attack)
