Man I love Riddles’ Kazuya, it’s so cool to watch how he changes his gameplay after each set. It’s incredible to see him grow from being a generic 0TD fisher (at kazuya release his Terry was much cleaner) to the way he makes use of everything in his toolkit, from up air to laser to Demon God Fist. His movement has improved so much and his disadvantage makes it feel like Kazuya has no weaknesses, even with the problems with all his disadvantage tools. For a bit I was worried the hate would get to him and he would quit, leaving both Terry and Kazuya unrepresented (mostly, Tea has a clean Kazuya too, but I much prefer the pac-man), but then he bounced back and solidified himself as a top 10 competitor. Not to take the spotlight off of Fatality though, he played the best he could without matchup knowledge, just really cool to see one of my favorite players on a video with another one of my favorites.

Couldn't have said it better. That's why I use "Congrats!" sometimes on elite smash after a game. I main DK (12.9 mill GSP, just for perspective sake) and when I come up against a Kaz, Pyra/Mythra, Pika, Fox, Falcon, FALCO, etc. I'm just like well I got hit once time to die lol. He's just a character that isn't balanced for tournaments, and if tons of Kazuyas don't dominate they likely won't patch him; i.e. with maybe a worse recovery, less invincible frames, etc. To represent a game franchise is cool, but certain mechanics from them are ridiculous for tourney play. Like Terry's Supers should reset if he takes a stock, to better match the original games (you don't have your super at the start of the next round). Even in most of the KOF entries with 3 vs 3 teamplay, you usually get health restored between KO's which also would automatically deactivate your super.

Riddles wouldn’t place as high as he does without Kazuya. He’s very carried by the character. And I’ve recently started playing kazuya and even I can feel the difference in how much BS I can get away with and how unfair the game becomes with another opponent. And that’s that I haven’t bothered learning combo routes, just the normal inputs anyone can pick up. Imagine if I put time into the routes. As fun as he is… by letting me cheese most characters…. He just feels unfair to play with…. But I may adopt the character if he’s not banned strictly to win. I can’t deny, it’s fun to win. Even if it means I’m absolutely playing an unfair character

I've seen him do that a bunch of times on posted vids. On one hand , it's a tournament - exploit every single thing so you can win and get the trophy/check. Yes, Riddles did recently lose to Palu in Ontario w/ Kazuya, but he himself said that he was playing “dogsh*t.” It almost sounds like an excellent Kazuya player basically chooses to lose if they’re a good enough player, as risk/reward is ridiculously skewed in Kazuya’s favor. No other heavy comes _close_ to the same advantage state Kazuya has. So I‘m frustrated that Ganon and DK were kept as trashy as they are currently with no projectiles nor reflectors.

Hot take- this match up is even. Kazuya can body anyone but falcon can body him back and understand how to play around the electrics. At Frosty faustings, riddles went game 5 with a falcon player who forced him offa Kazuya and had to play terry to win.

This is what 0 knowledge of a character looks like. Just because of his crazy zero to deaths doesn’t mean it’s impossible to lose with him. He’s not even the best character in the game yet these scrubs are moaning like kazuya has zero disadvantages. The only reason why sakurai gave him such powerful strengths i.e his combos, is because his weaknesses such as his disadvantage, slow airdrift, slow speed, 7 frame jump squat and so on drag him down. Still a very good character though don’t get me wrong. Just factually not unbeatable.
